Heavy duty. With the smells the rest of my body puts out, I don't worry much if my boot has an odor. But I am one of those that don't think you can eliminate your odor

This. And worry that your boot oil smells? Foolish. mtmuley

kenetrek boot wax, and nikwax as mentioned above. I got more odors coming off of me, I dont think the boot treatment I put on weeks earlier will make much of a difference.

Same here Nikwax and Kenetrek. The 10 w 40 works good for cover up scent. They just think it's another diesel truck coming. ?

DO NOT USE OILS!

You need to use waxes that are made for boots, and melt into the boot. Most of them will have a certain amount of Vegetable oils.
Most oils will interact with the bonding agents and over a short period of time break them down.
You will be left with the rubber that is glued to the boot coming off.

I have had great luck with the Kenetrek boot wax.

Don't use sow lard or all the boars will chase you around trying to get some! ....or is that your hope? LOLOLOLOL

My hope Zeke is to bottle some of that lard and sell it as an alternative to KY Jelly. What u think?

Obenaufs?? I'm not putting something on my boots I can't pronounce.

Ever since I started using bacon grease I've killed a lot more bears for some reason.

About every 3,000 Miles mine get an Oil Change rather they need it or not!

I'd buy it!
There's probably a pretty good market among hunters.
Natural lube is alway better!

I used Oberhaufs for years.
It will peal the rubber off the leather of the new expensive boots like Lowa Tibets and Kenetrek Mt. Extreme.

I was told the Kenetrek wax will not. I have been using that last few years and so far, it seems it does not eat the glue holding the rubber to the leather.

Like Pleasedear, I use mink oil but also add a fair amount of elbow grease.

saddling up anyway."

I was told that as well, but I still use Obenhaufs strickly for years and never had any problem with the rand of my Crispis and other high end boots. I think the Kenetrek rep or someone made that up to sell more wax.

I use Odenhaufs....I got it because it is supposed to be compatible with neubuck leather. I've been using it on a pair of Zamberlans & the hard plastic/rubber around the side is starting to peel in a few places. I don't know if the wax is the cause? Or just abuse in the chukar hills??
