Figured I’d set the example for all our new MM members on the right way to draw attention to your posts, if you want to receive help.

Or…let’s declare this thread the official location for newbies to ask for honey hole locations. Post up your unit, species (although this is the muley forum), and season. Ask real nice, include a good story that pulls on heart strings, and maybe you’ll get directions to the buck of a lifetime. Definitely can’t hurt to ask. And 100% guaranteed entertaining responses forthcoming.

Go now and shoot those coyote's before they kill your Big buck in the area you hunt.
OR you can pickup his antlers during your hunt.

Dang must be the same one that I got his whole life on video where he eats where he dropped his last turd. Now all my hard work on the internet is wasted. Thanks alot Pacer. LOL

I kinda figured on hunting you down…….. locating your favorite hunting area and sticking to it like a fly on you know what ! Then after I bag “your” monster buckster I’m gonna post directions to “your” spot all over the internet and never hunt it again !!!! ??? A little payback for the joke on the other thread ??? !!!!

I’ll start off with my best heart strings thread:
Hi all, been trying to siphon info off this site for years with never adding any value, well anyways my Daddy just drew a OIL tag in an OTC unit in Co. Don’t want anyone’s Honey Hole, but my Dad is a WWI veteran highly decorated with terminal foot fungus. This will likely be our last hunt together, we don’t have any expectations, but will only shoot a 365ish bull. We live 4 hours away but don’t have anytime to scout. Could someone please go hang trail cams and find me a bull that fits my description. Any response other than telling me what I want is an attack on terminally ill veterans everywhere and will be met as such, Thanks

It's always the old man or a young kid that they are "helping" yet they are rarely herd from ever again. Lol

While hnthrdr had a good heart string post. I implore you to help us first.

Much like hnthrdr. Long time lurker, first time poster!

I am reaching out here for my first post looking for help. I don’t personally know the hunter, but my friends cousins, brothers, in-laws, friends daughter drew a tag, and this will probably be her only hunt. She is disabled with spinabifida, muscular dystrophy, and d something else.

As you can imagine, she is not very mobile, may have one good walk in her, but for the most part we need to find a buck close to the road. And we would really love if one of you guys could find it in your heart of hearts to escort us to said buck, as well as help us dress it, get it back to the truck and load it.

Remember this poor girl is disabled, and I am not here for negative comments. If you don’t have anything helpful to say. Just move along.

Thank you in advance.

I'll help legit out of staters in my home state of NM as its hard to make quality scouting trips for a working man...I get it , been there. A NR tag is very hard to come by and most likely a once in a lifetime deal .I won't send them to my honey hole but I will help them with information in an area I know is good.

Absolutely @Servehim, the problem is when they aren't members here, then ditch out and never come back, at least until they have another unit specific question.

I can't wait to be the guy getting blasted for asking for unit specific pointers, it means I'll have a pretty cool tag in my pocket!!

I have for years actively helped people from out of state and in state. I have no issues with helping people at all.heck usually I will be out there with them, not just giving them info over here or the phone. But I am taking a break from being in the field with them this year.

I do have issues with the people that try to pull the handicap card, or vet card etc. just come here. Ask what you are going to ask. Usually people will reply to your PM and give you pointers.

But in my mind, it’s pretty easy. Just be honest about the hunt, unit, dates, etc. I don’t need to read how you are more deserving than someone else by your own justification.

Well PACER1975, go find me a giant bull in Unit 6A for me please, since you are handing our locations! :)

I have helped a few people out on this site and have had a good experience from it. Haven't had anyone just dip out on me yet but most of my communication has been through private messages. Hopefully this will be the year I draw a tag that I can finally ask for some help if needed.

Like yourself I have helped a few guys & have been fortunate to get some advice as well.

I personally have no issue whatsoever helping someone out if I can. I have been in those shoes where I had absolutely no idea where to start. When I first moved to Vegas just the idea of hunt “The West” was overwhelming as hell to me. Back East was familiar, required very little gear & everywhere that I hunted was within a 30 minute drive from the house. Western hunting is just different. Today I see it as an adventure but I still feel no shame at all in requesting some direction because I know I will pay it forward.
Just my 2 cents…

I’ve always found it rewarding to help others with spots. Especially veterans , cops , and kids.
We’ve shot bucks with others in some of our best spots many times. Nothing better than seeing someone else with a huge smile on their face, even though they didn’t deserve it scouting wise. Dreams have come true right in front of me many times , and because of my or my families scouting/effort. You want to make a friend for life give someone their best memory in the field by helping them. Most people just don’t have the time to spend in the field , and that’s totally ok with me. It’s not about what you can take , and far more about what you can give. If a spot gets ruined , I just go find another one. I haven’t had hardly any issues with someone ruining a spot I took them to and shot a big animal. I do however let them know very sincerely how special places are to me. I’ve only been betrayed once in 30 years, and then I just spent a couple extra weeks developing a new spot for big critters. Pay it forward not backward fellas.

That is an abundance mindset you got there couesmagnet. In the case of mule deer since they are becoming less abundant it seems like many guys are tight-lipped about their special spots especially if it is a routine general area. But now that the draw tags are getting so difficult to draw I have seen that many are more willing to share or help since they will never draw the unit again. Same goes for me.

Agreed fairweather. For north of the ditch Mule deer, because it’s so hard to draw I routinely give out my best stuff to friends and people I already know who draw. I’ve also helped several non residents also along the way north of the ditch.
South of the ditch spots are precious and I don’t have many of those spots, but still share if the situation looks safe.

For coues deer it’s a diff story. I’ve found it moderately difficult over the years to find good spots for coues deer. Takes a lot of time still to find those spots for coues worthy of producing 110 plus bucks , but there are a lot more places to draw and look at for coues deer. The points required take alot less for coues than mule deer.

I helped a dude on this site for mule deer several years ago for the late kaibab 12 A west tag. A couple years later I was contacted by another dude from this site and he had spoken with the dude I helped years previous. It seems the dude I helped shared the whole 9 yards with the new guy calling me. It was kind of funny and frustrating to hear the guy I helped rattling off like he knew the place well with all my stuff I helped him with to the new guy. The whole hunting industry has become one large dog and pony/ smoke and mirrors show.
Oh well the first guy I helped killed a great buck, and the second guy shot an even better buck.
I should be guaranteed the 12 A west late tag this year. Anxious to see how much competition I’ll have in my best stuff from helping others. Good thing is , that the kaibab has lots of good spots to look at.
It’s just a great feeling to watch someone tip over their biggest animal. I’ve watched in az over 22 110 plus coues bucks take dirt naps with friends, family, myself , and strangers over the years. The first smile after the tip over is priceless. Especially if it’s a vet , cop , or kid.

I live in southern Utah and have been buying bonus points for the once in a lifetime moose since I could hunt. I am going to wait for a few more years before I try to draw this tag, but I have no idea what unit I would want to apply for. I am not asking right now which unit I should look at, but I am thinking it would not be worth the harassment I would get by asking. Sometimes people just want a little direction.

How many points do you have? If you don't have more than 23 or 24 points, you very well may NEVER draw. I have 21 moose points, with several thousand people/points a head of me, at age 45, I will never draw.

That is a sad reality. Wish we could increase the resource dramatically to help situations like this.

I have 19 points. I am 33 turning 34 this year.
You're so far away from a tag that you'd be better served to come back in 10-20 years and ask about units.

I'll be dead and gone well before 20 years but some other smart (azz) guy will surely take my place and talk units with you.

SS is young enough that you'll be reading his stuff for a long long time?

Zeke

I've helped and received help through this site and I'm sure that will continue.

One of they guys I reached out to for moose help in Wyoming has turned out to be a genuine "best friend" and we've hunted together and we talk often. Totally like-minded.

So.. to me i guess it all depends on whether someone has street-creds on the site of not.

Zeke

I've helped people on this site and others. And have received help from MM'ers and other sites. Most of the time, it's a two-way conversation. Occasionally it isn't. But hey, what goes around comes around. I'll keep sharing and hopefully people will keep sharing with me!

I know that a lot of hunters hang out here. They might be a little more wiling to share info then some of these tight ass MM’ers
