non lead round balls.....???

They are both 50?s....I shoot .495 round balls...

I have seen those......

It would take a hell of a patch to shoot those .487 balls.....

Does it have to be a round ball?

I know it's not ideal but the federal BOR 270 gr copper bullet? And maybe the Thor all copper bullet

I used the hornady FPB bullets in my side lock renegade. And they worked well. I realize those are lead, so you can't use them. But similar to Thors

I wish....a 1 in 72 twist will not even remotely stabilize a bullet.....tried a few with zero accuracy.

Shoots round balls into 2" at 100 yards all day....

minimum bullet weight for 50 cal is 170 grns....lead balls weigh 183 grns....those non toxic balls shown above weigh 154 grns....

I would call the "Heavy Shot" guys, or the Dead Coyote guys and see if they would cast you some .495 balls.


Or buy a couple boxes of their stuff, cut the shot out of the shells, and recast it in your mold.




Be fricken expensive, but it's one solution.

I have .50 TC Hawken 1:48 from 1975. I did order the ITX .487 roundballs, however, I've hesitated to use them. Mostly because I'm not sure what patch to use. The people who sold them to me would not advise me on a patch either.

I wish I had another choice.
