Outfitter sues, says game warden disrupted hunt
Location: SANTA FE
Source: AP
The state Game and Fish Department is being sued by a Santa Fe hunting outfitter.
Double A Outfitters Incorporated claims a senior game warden derailed a high-dollar elk hunt in October 2003 by patrolling at the wrong place and the wrong time.
The lawsuit names the department, assistant chief Robert Livingston and rancher Steve Stevenson.
The lawsuit filed by outfitters Andrew and Vicki Salgado claims Livingston's patrols along a fence line separating Stevenson's Rio Arriba County ranch from the national forest affected the normal behavior of migrating elk, the lawsuit claims.
The Salgados say they and their seven of the out-of-state hunters were left with "severe emotional distress and anxiety."
The Game and Fish Department won't comment on the pending litigation.
