I have a Savage model 110 in 223 caliber. and it is not firing all the rounds. It seems to be getting good primer strikes, I haven't taken apart the bolt yet but was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem? and how they fixed it? The ammo is all good ammo.

Important to know if you were shooting re-loads or factory ammo. Also if the ammo would fire on a second try.

it is factory ammo, and I would just cycle the action a couple of time to get it to fire. I also saved a few and shot them out of an AR with no problem, I'll give Savage a call.

If it is 5.56 military ball that could be your issue. Some of the 5.56 ammo is known to have "hard" primers. I have seem this happen with ar's that have had weaker springs installed in the trigger group.

All 5.56 has hard primers. If you look at a 5.56 round that has been chambered, and then extracted w/o firing, it will have a primer strike. It is caused by the floating firing pin. The ammo has to be hard enough to go off when that happens.
