Pig Hide Tanned

I did a hide myself. I substituted eggs for brains and smoked it. Now I have to oil it to make it soft.

That's a good skill to have. Years ago I taxidermied my own pronghorn and tanned the hide myself. The cape is still in good shape.
 
Got me hungry for some cracklings and beer!!
My brother smoked a pork belly the other day and fried some cracklings. It was good.

I remember my Grandmother talk about when they killed hogs during the depression and how much she loved fresh cracklings. The rest of the pig was smoked or salted because they didn't have electricity. I bet $5 she was tougher than most of us. :)
