So I just picked up a Christensen Ridgeline in 300wm to take care of elk and other big game. Now on to the fun part. I did some horse trading and ended up with a Remington 721 action and a std and magnum bolt for it. My plan is to blueprint the action and mill for 700 trigger/safety. For stock I’m leaning towards walnut with the black fore end for the classic look and a stainless spotter contour barrel finished at 24” and chambered in 270. I’ll most likely have the barreled action cerakoted so that it looks like it’s been blued.

I’m hoping it turns out looking like “grandpa’s” old gun that is also a tack driver.

Midnight blue cerakote is what I’d use for that look. Nothing wrong with a wood stock but I’d have it pillar bedded also.
You can also have a fiberglass stock dipped in wood grain. Or tell McMillan you want a Mcwalnut or Mcwoody swirl stock if you want a very nice stock.
