Made it so no Republican will be elected president for at least 8 years. ( not sure this is a good thing)

Made it possible and probable that I will have to listen to a she/thing president for at least the next 4 years.

Bush said today we need a stimulus plan for the economy that's simple and works fast. it needs to be simple or he won't understand it, it needs to work fast or he'll lose interest.

There?s a lot of exaggeration going on here, both about how bad George is and how bad the democrats will be. The economy will bounce, and to blame the current problems all on W. is na?ve. Frankly he has done a great job with the economy, overseeing a tremendous bounce back from the Clinton recession. Yea a lot of you seem to have forgotten that things were in a tailspin when Bush took office, my what short memories we have.
A democrat in the Whitehouse will only have so much power to damage the second amendment, but expect them to use what ever power they have to do just that. It depends a lot on how the current Supreme Court/individual right case goes. Don?t be surprised if semi auto handguns, shotguns and hunting rifles like the Remington 7400 go by by.
Eelgrass is right, Bush?s legacy will not be written for twenty or thirty years. At that time, if Iraq is a stable democracy and the middle east is reasonable peaceful, Bush will go down as a great president. If Iraq and the rest of sand land is still a popo hole, Bush?s legacy will suffer but I believe historians will at least credit him with having the ball to try to do something.
The problems with the U.S. economy and Presidents Bush?s current low approval ratings are largely a result of a hostel press and an opposition party who has a vested interest in convincing us how bad things are so they can convince us that they can fix the problems.

The current situation does not add up to a recession, your just buying into media hype (see my last paragraph above).
If a recession does occur in the near future, only time and facts will tell weather or not it was Bush?s fault.
 
The debt Bush has run up is overlooked way to easy by too many people, this is serious.

How does the war in Iraq translate into a war on terrorism? the terrorist in the countries who have actually harmed us are pretty much untouched and in Pakistan they're thriving, by the way Pakistan has nukes. oh and I should mention a forgotten guy named bin Laden is still making movies.

It won't take as much time to see what Bush's legacy will be as most people think, there isn't enough good to keep the debate open that long. the stories that are likely to start flowing after he's out of office will probably make watergate look like a kids Christmas play, should be interesting.

Look at Nixon?s legacy. For a good twenty years he was remembered only for Watergate. Now some thirty + years later presidential historians are starting to credit him for some great, historic things.
If Bush?s military adventures in the middle east don't produce some stability, I'm sure his legacy will not be pretty. But if, in the long run, Iraq becomes stable, and that stability spreads to other countries in the region, all will be forgiven and Bush will be seen as a leader who changed the world for the better.

Edit: One more thing. Bush is a leader! Most of the time he drags us kicking and screaming, but at least he leads, just like he said he would. I respect him for that!

Crime and murder up across America
Air pollution up, especially in Texas

Country more divided and weaker than ever in our modern history. . . I'd say that's a hell of a legacy, not withstanding the outcome of his military action in Iraq. . .
 
How many years have to pass for a legacy to be appended to a president? My children and grandchildren will still be paying for George's spending habits for the next 30-40 years.

George will be known as the only man that got the job, that never really wanted it. As a young man unlike Jeb, George was never a great student, never a national political icon, or a party visionary. His endeavors into the private sector proved disastrous, yet he was in the right place, with the right name, at the right time to become Governor.

History then repeated itself, as the stars (reagan/bush sr cronies) came into perfect alignment, George became the chosen one. If he wasn't so smug and arrogant I would actually feel sorry for him. History will show George as a man who let his strong convictions overshadow his electorate, his cabinet appointees, and his duties to protect the constitution time and time again. George has nothing in common with Nixon any historic comparison of these 2 is ridiculous.
 
Who wants to make a bet Iraq will become a stabile democracy?, I want some of that action. why will Iraq be any different than any other nation in the region? don't say their love or admiration for us.

Unless Iraq becomes a model society for the region spreading peace and order then Bush has nothing positive to leave behind. so his chances are 1 in a million, like those odds? not enough for me to cheer over.
