Yeah. You can carry a gun in the field too--it's a rural, forested, USFS/BLM area that is blacktail winter range. Kids were just gonna go shed hunting.

I read that they did not carry any guns because it was opening day of junioer turkey season. Did not want the appearance of any wrongdoing.

You can not carry a handgun while bowhunting in CA.
