Predator Hunters ?

Any predator hunters out there in eastern Az. I've really be trying to improve calling knowledge this season. Have called in quite a few coyotes but no foxes or cats....would like to ask for advice....

I don't live in eastern az so I probably can't help you there but I call way more foxes and bobcats the closer I get to canyons and cuts in terrain. The flat or rolling hills stuff is more suited for calling coyotes. At least this is my experience but I learn something new every time I go out. Good Luck

>Where do you live?

Holbrook....went calling today...called in my first grey Fox but screwed up and got no shot.

Thanks.....I've tried calling in some canyons but no bobcats......maybe I'm not staying looking long enough on stand....

I'm no expert but have a friend who is a professional and works for the dept. of agriculture. His opinion is you have to be willing to pass on coyotes since the shot will give you away to any cats near by and wait much longer as a cat is much more patient in coming to the call. Won't work for me because I can't pass on a coyote!

I live in heber so only about 35 miles away. If youre looking for cats stick close to canyons and thick stuff. Sit there atleast 30-40 minutes as cats usually come in slow. They don't care about scent as much as coyotes but still try and play the wind.

Thanks.....I read on other forum that you hunted Utah Pine Valley muzzle loader deer hunt last year. This year I put in for the early rifle hunt in same unit. I put in with buddy and we avg 4 NR pts. If we draw I would like to ask you for some general unit info if you would share....
