Can someone explain how the private land access draw works? Just found out we drew elk tags today. I had never heard of the private land access draw until recently. How do you apply? Do you apply for individual parcels of land? Thanks

Wyoming has two programs that allow hunters to go onto private lands that are enrolled in one or the other. Go onto the G&F Home Page and highlight "Hunting". When you do that you can look over to the far right and you will see the programs listed as "Hunter Management Info" and "Walk-In Hunting Info". Click on each of those and you can read what each program covers and where the ranches were last year. The updates for 2015 won't be out for quite a while yet. Anyway, the counties listed on the left can be clicked on and that will bring up maps of the areas. The Walk-In Program is just that and you don't need anything other than a legal license and Conservation Stamp to park and go hunting. Some of the HMAs allow you to apply online and print out your permission slip right at home, while others have a limited number of people allowed and you have to apply to draw a permission slip. Find the county where your tag is good for and go from there to see if it had any places in either of those programs last year. If so, they will more than likely still be in it this year.
