Quality brass and other woes

Howdy,

I prepped and weighed 52 rounds of once fired Winchester brass last night. 7 WSM nickel plated and the average weight was 228.2 grains. 49% of them fell within the +or- 1% range, and each and every one of them had less than .001" neck run-out. This is a VAST improvement over the Winchester brass I have used as late as 3 years ago!!!!!! Kudos to Winchester.

Now for the woes, after all that prep work and sizing, even with the die touching the shell holder, they still won't chamber. My die was reamed too deep. Oh well, back to RCBS it goes. I guess this year I'll just have to shoot factory ammo.

Thats weird. I would be interested to hear RCBS's explanation. What does "too deep" mean? Shoulder, neck, or what?

Howdy,

Those dies are manufactured by reaming just like a rifle barrel. The thing is, they just ran the reamer into the die body too far.
