I recently acquired a Remigton 597 .17 HMR seni-auo with a bull barrel and 5 round clip. It's a really nice gun with a scope and custom stock. We went to shoot it and went through 3 or 4 clips when all of sudden the clip exploded out of the gun when my wife was shooting it. We found the clip in pieces and she got a little burned on her arm.
I found some 10-15 year old articles talking about Remingtin recalling these guns and giving you a 200.00 voucher or converting it for you to a 22 mag. These were old internet postings so I dont know what I can do. Reaching out to Remington has not been productive. Has anyone had any experience with this or have any advice/recommendations? I hate to get rid of it but I don't want anyone getting hurt.
