I'm going to play a bit with my .06 I still love my cannon, but who has used RL-17 in the .30-06 with 165-168 grain bullets? Looking for speed first, of course, but it isn't mandatory. Thanks already. mtmuley

I got good accuracy with Reloader 19,but never tried R-17.
This years elk load is 180 grain bullet over 59.5 grains of R-22,very accurate in my rifle.

Alliant RL-17 is a good powder. I have not used it in the 30-06 but I do use it in the 6.5-284 and the 375 Ruger. It is a high energy powder and gives a tad more powder than regular powder choices. Here is the 30-06 data.

Code:
Bullet Case OAL	Primer	Powder	Charge Velocity
			               (inches) (grains) (fps)

30-06 150 gr BTSP	Federal 3.25	Fed 210	RL-17	58	3,006
30-06 165 gr BTSP	Federal 3.25	Fed 210	RL-17	56.5	2,874
30-06 168 gr BTHP	Winchester	3.295	Fed 210	RL-17	56	2,850
30-06 180 gr BTSP	Federal 3.25	Fed 210	RL-17	54.5	2,762
30-06 200 gr SP	Winchester	3.295	Fed 210	RL-17	51	2,552
