Rob Bishop doesn't care for hunters

Saw this article and thought other fellow hunters should know that our Utah congressmen Rob Bishop wants to screw us hunters and anglers by gutting the land and water conservation fund. Sadly it's not the first time he has pulled this crap.

If it happens tons of access programs and land protection will be eliminated.

Why is he continually re-elected?

The problem seems to be that most Utah outdoor types are not paying attention to what the end results will be. I don't get to vote for him, but if I did, he wouldn't have lasted this long!

Because of his land-grab crap, I actually voted for a Democrat last year (gulp).

I used to be a staunch conservative and have also found myself voting largely more Democrat than Republican; mostly because of public access and conservtion issues.

I think partisan politics is a great way to manipulate the common folk, keep us divided and keep us out of any meaningful participation in our own government.

That said, the problem is NOT that Bishop doesn't care for hunters - he's voted to support our concerns on occasion (Sportsmen's Heritage Act). The problem is that few hunting/fishing organizations in Utah will ever oppose him (or any other Republican politician) no matter what he does or who he's working for.

If you oppose a Republican, then you must be a Democrat, aka liberal, socialist, treehugger. And in a "red state" like Utah, there are consequences when you get pigeon-holed like that, particularly if you're a business owner, aspire to serve the community or want to retain NGO membership.
