Can sage grouse be hunted legally anywhere or has that all been shut down?

I hunted WY a few years ago for sage grouse. They had a 2-3 week season if I remember correctly. Where I hunted you were required to cut a wing off and leave it in a collection bin.

Colorado has a split season in September. Northwest area of the state has a huntable population. 747 of birds.

I believe Idaho is over the counter but you have to buy a tag. Two bird limit.

Nevada has a season. Resident only, with the exception of the Sheldon.

I have a Utah sage grouse license this year. Took a couple years to draw but it should be fun for 2 birds.

SS can laugh but there are only a couple viable ways to limit hunters: Price them out of a hunt or draw system to disburse tags. Pick your poison son.

Watched about 40 in an alfalfa field this morning, while looking for antelope. In this Zone, there are 200 tags, and each hunter can buy one tag. They are still fun to hunt, but getting to be fewer all the time.
