Savage serial numbers

I see the info is very rare to do a serial number check as far as checking the year of the rifle. Lot of unstable info on the net. Called savage and their computers go back to 1995. So they said buffalo bill muesem holds there records which takes a membership fee.

Anyone have any info on a older savage 110?
I also found take first 2 numbers then minus 100. That equals the year it was built. Ex. 100-24=1976
