ANY OF YOU MM GUYS GOING TO THE SCI SHOW ?? I THOUGHT I WOULD GO IN JANUARY, CALLED SCI TO CHECK ON ADMISSION-- GLAD I DID. FIRST YOU HAVE GOT TO BE A MEMBER TO ATTEND, NO PROBLEM = $55 FOR A ONE YR.MEMBERSHIP. THEN ONCE AT THE DOOR $125.00 FOR A ONE DAY PASS, 200.00 FOR TWO DAYS, 300.00 FOR THREE DAYS-- AND THIS IS IF YOUR A MEMBER. WITH ROOMS,AND OTHER EXPENSES I GUESS ITS A $1200.00 WEEKEND. I CALLED TWICE TO VERIFY, SAME INFO. I MENTIONED THAT WITH A POLICY LIKE THAT THEY ARE KEEPING TONS OF SERIOUS HUNTERS AWAY FROM THERE EVENT.( ITS IN RENO ). SHE SAID ATTENDANCE HAS NOT BEEN WHAT THEY HAD HOPED/ PLANNED FOR IN RECENT YEARS, DUH!!! I GO ON SOME PRETTY DECENT HUNTS, AND SPEND A BUCK OR TWO NOW & THEN/ BUT THIS RUBBED ME THE WRONG WAY. TAKE ER EASY, YD.

Two years ago SCI opened it to "Sportsman" at $30, for membership and a pass. It was packed. It's a great show with tons of vendors, but designed for the affluent hunter.

CRAP!!!

Looks like big money is taking over everything in the hunting sports. Sounds like someone in SCI only want the "Rich & Famous" to attend. Probably felt that you Rednecks would not spend enought cash so it was best to weed you out at the door.

RELH, NO I AM NOT A REDNECK/ AND I JUST DUMPED $14,000 ON MY FIRST SHEEP HUNT, AND I AM NOT DONE WITH EXPENSES YET. MY POINT WAS THAT TO BE A MEMBER/ AND PAY AT THE DOOR SEEMS LIKE BS TO ME.ALOT OF HUNTERS WOULD LIKE THE CHANCE TO GO, AND LOOK AROUND/ EVEN IF YOU CANT DROP 10-15 THOU. FOR WHAT A GOOD SHEEP HUNT COST YOU COULD GO TO AFRICA TWICE. YD.

FYI...if you registered by Dec. 17th it was $100/1day, 175/2days and $250/4days. You don't have to stay in a $100+ hotel, lots of options in Reno or even Carson City only 30 miles away. Just stay out of the casinos and strip clubs. Moral...plan ahead.

Yukon, how are you so sure U R not a redneck ?
Have you taken the Jeff Foxworthy quiz lately, to make certain ?
Hell, the old man, Jed... from the Beverly Hillbilly's was fairly rich, yet still a redneck, & when did rednecked-ness become an insult anyways ?
Most hunters that stay out in the field for any length of time, tend to develop a redneck, maybe you hunt ah-natural with just a loin-cloth, as your hunting attire so you don't get a redneck.
O-kay just messing with you Yukon, thanks for the heads up on the SCI show, I was planning on it this year, but knowing that will change my mind, just think how many people will show up in Reno not knowing about the price increase & be tempted to go postal, I sure would not want to be the one at the front door listening to all the pissed off people feeling like they just took it up their bunghole(redneck term for rectum)

Yukon: I Agree with you completely. I think SCI and other organizations like RMEF have caved in and go after the affluentt members and not the majority of their members. these fees for entry are way to high........p.s. I am a proud REDNECK>........... Thanks, Allen Taylor......

Keeps out the rif-raf and the tire-kickers. I'm going but only because I can get in for free and stay with a buddy in Reno. (Yeh, B_F_E, I do have SOME friends) From what I have heard its the largest gathering of millionaires in the U.S. ouside the Republican National Convention. For whatever its worth.
Its pretty freakin' cool to go and see all the stuff from around the globe and the taxidermy displays are outstanding.

Rif Raf or not I inquired about setting a booth up at SCI needless to say i will not be attending the show. I understand that you have to cover your costs. I mean things cost but to require a guide to donate Items for auction or raffle is just wrong. I have no problem donating things as a Matter of fact i may be donating a deer hunt to Hunt of a Lifetime Organization. We will see still waiting to hear from them. But to say you have to donate something is just wrong and to charge 1850.00 just for a booth and no access to the show Horse Hockey they need to get their heads checked MDF RMEF and a few other orgs are getting my dollars first.

I go to SCI every year, but it costs me nothing to get in and I stay at a cheap motel. The first time I went it blew me away, I had never seen so much money or so many trophy wives under one roof. SCI does some good things, but don't kid yourself, they are about the money first and foremost. If you don't have it they don't want you.

Getting a booth is outrageously costly. Donations plus money. How can you consider something a donation if it's mandatory? Wouldn't that be considered a fee?

I agree there are much better places to donate to. SCI is about wealthy trophy hunters, period. It is cool to meet people like George Bush, Schwarzkoff and other celebrities that hunt, but I wouldn't consider that a reason for going.

BUCKSPY, My dad has been to both and he assures me that their is way more rich fat cats at the SCI than the RNC. Billionaires like the Prince of the Himalayas, King Cufad and other pampered pusses. Heck, the beautiful wives on a average are wearing 1 thousand carrot (ha) rings and have racks that wont quit. I'd still rather go to the SCI extravaganza than RNC hoopla.

Definetely no shortage of huge rings or racks. That's one of the first things you notice.
