The season is a quarter of the way over and the thread is getting really long. So we should start a fresh one so it doesn't take forever to scroll to the bottom thread.

Other than that....How bout them Giant's.

Needed to be done...thanks.
so we're on pace to win or am
guessing 103 games..and primed
for playoffs and itching for some
89 series payback! (Oakland looks good!)

LAST EDITED ON May-20-14 AT 10:21AM (MST)[p]Earlier game tonight in Colorado, 5:40 PM start time. Mad Bum on the hill.

What a great job by the Giants. 17 games straight games without a day off, all against teams with .500-plus records, including a 10-game road trip, and they go 11-6, despite having top of the rotation starters miss two starts and despite losing a middle of the order hitter to injury. Not Bad!!!

Go Giants!!

Joey

F'n Romo !!!
I hate the fact we live or die with
him..I would have yanked him..and brought
in Lopez or Romo's grandma for the last guy!
This was a important game we needed to win.
jester

Romo has been really good closing games, but the slider is a tough pitch to throw in elevation. After he walked the first batter and I saw his slider starting to back up on him....I was worried. Last night hurt.

Tough loss no doubt but Colorado is a solid squad and the giants were playing short.

Ok vent time. I like krukow and kuiper. But come on guys you have been around baseball for how long and you don't know the rules. When Colvin ran into Tulo obstruction was called. But Colvin on his own went back to second. Obstruction does not award a base but protects your advancement. Had he even walked to third he would have been protected and allowed to advance no matter how much he was thrown out by. Because he opted not to try for third he was not advanced.

Good points guys!

I too was gritting out that last at bat, was even figuring out our chances of getting that third out by using his batting average. As far as Romo's slider, seemed to me that he had guys going for that outside pitch. That always has been his bread and butter pitch for right handed batters, that, and with the 2 seam fastball tailing away from the lefties.

The last batter missed two great sliders just off the plate to get to strike two. Then for some unknown reason, Romo chose not to throw that pitch again, electing to stay on the inside of the plate with it. Romo going inside with that slider, just was not a good idea.

The rest, unfortunately, is sad history for us Giants fans as out team was oh so close to a hard fought Win.

Too bad for Colvin. He really has come on and turned into a good young clutch hitter for us. He would no doubt, been the hero of the game and had a great time with all in the clubhouse.

Go Giants!

Joey

Come on Boch!!!!!

A simple double switch Blanco into left when you bring Casilla in Jeeze!!!!!

Don't get me wrong its on Casilla for being dumb but hey you only get some many chances to get an offensive stat but Bochy shouldn't have put him in that spot.

Ok if its bad and he has to go to the 60day DL please please add Susac to the 40 man roster obviously Buster is gimped up

Hopefully Cain isn't bad but I think if he hits the DL then we will maybe see Hembree?

The injuries are starting to pile up and we don't have a lot of depth on the bench. Hopefully we can keep Buster and Pagan in the lineup.

Tell me that didn't happen.

You have a 4 run lead in the 9th, two down, bases empty, and your ace right hand reliever does a wind sprint down to 1st base and goes on the DL????

Eel

Eel, the worst part of the story is that Bochy told him not to swing at anything when he went up to bat. Not only did he blow out his Hammy but I'm sure he's got a sore butt from the chewing he got.

Nope Bochy has to wear cassilla a injury

He should have double switched no question. He had Colvin and hicks up 8&9 with blanco and arias on the bench

Congrats to the Giants for their play so far. Right now, they are the best team in baseball!

The Panda. His stock is rising, trade him!!! The man has certain abilities but is just now playing and hitting like we knew he could. So, Trade him. Trade him while we can get a good solid player for him. No doubt in my mind that as Pablo improves even more, he will then suddenly get hurt, disabled list, long recuperation, and again we will have to wait for his bat to come around, again. Trade him to some other team and wash our hands of the guy. If we need him so bad, how did we get where we are this year? Certainly his help has been minimal up to a week or so ago. my $.02

In the mean time, Panda, STAY HOT!! lol

Feed the Beast! Morse was more than due!! Easy guy to root for!

Pence found his power stroke. Just a few games ago, seems like anyway, both Panda and Pence had only 2 home runs each!

Colvin, anybody else notice that Colvin at the plate looks a lot like Buster but from the other side?

Hicks missed a couple hanging curves lately. What's up with that? Throw him a hanger up and in, it's OUTAHERE! He's a natural born mistake masher! Marco who? lol

Go Giants!!

Joey

"It's all about knowing what your firearms practical limitations are and combining that with your own personal limitations!"

Sage, I know you want the Giant's to trade the Panda but if he stays hot I thing they will keep him the entire season not to change the team chemistry. The big question for me is when Belt comes back...will he continue the good hitting or revert back.

I have been watching Posey during his slump and have noticed something. He is now in an extreame squat when he is hitting. I would like to see him get a little more upright. Right now I think it is taking him too long to get back into the hitting stance coming out of that squat. Too me simple is better in hitting and pitching. Just my two cents.

Go Giant's

larrbo, I noticed it too. I wonder if Buster is compensating for his back "injury"? It's a possibility? But you're right!

I would put Panda out there and see what kind of offer we could get.

I won't comment on how well we're doing. as larrbo yells at me, afraid I'll put the jinx on.:):)

Eel

Larrbo, yeah, I can see how many would want the Panda to stay, especially while he's hot, and he is a big part of the fun and games in the clubhouse. So yeah, my world won't end if he stays but... contract year? Do we want to give him what he feels he's worth? Lose him without compensation?

I'm just tired of his all around inconsistency and injures thru the years plus the fact that with all the millions he makes to play the game, he can't find the discipline to show up in top physical condition for himself and his team. Even as a big guy myself, i have no sympathy for that young man's weight problem, none!

Yeah, Posey has been crouching, i noticed that too. He actually started to remind me of that terrible batting stance from that terrible bust of a center fielder from a few years ago. What was his name, easy to forget that guy? Anyway, Posey looks off balance to me too, i agree.

I read that the Cubs Pitcher tonight is supposed to be a tough luck specialist, Samarja, something like that? No wins but like leading the league in ERA? Anyway, The guy is supposed to be really really good... potential Cy Young kinda good.

Go Giants!

Joey

I don't know Steve but they sure didn't have those when i was a kid! :)

I was reading a Question answer thing on ESPN. One of the writers that absolutely hates our Giants and does the weekly ranking of the teams (this week they had the Giants ranked 3rd in Baseball) He also pre season refused to Rank the Giants as a possible top 10 team. "David Schoenfield"

David, why do you hate the Giants? ranking them #3??!! BEST RECORD IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL!!!

Schoenfield's answer: "They lost points for Hunter Pence losing his scooter. Could have a negative effect on the team's clubhouse chemistry if Pence takes out his anger on his teammates."

LMAO!! That's the best he could come up with for reason to not give the Giants their due! How some of those guys keep their jobs is boggling to the mind! :)

Nice game tonight. I'll not get to see tomorrows game, work has been that good, but i have little doubts that our boys will give them Cubbies a unhappy send-off!

Go Giants!!

Joey

"It's all about knowing what your firearms practical limitations are and combining that with your own personal limitations!"

Another great game tonight. Huddy was awesome as usual.

Oh and how about Jean Machi. Can you say all star. If he's not an al star that would be criminal.

Joey, I hope you made good money today, 'cause you missed a good one. (I used to hate that!:))

I know a guy has to eat though.

Eel

Steve, You know that i struggle. Owning your own little Construction Bus. is not a bed of Roses. But when i do work, get in a full day with a helper, i clear way more money in one day than i did in two full weeks as a "plumbers helper" back when i was still pretty green. Lately, it's been good but then there are weeks, even months during the winter, at a time where there is little or no work at all.

Just got in, Glad to see our Team done good! I'm looking forward to this coming Road Trip. Some good teams but we are playing good Ball. Bring it, let's see what you got?

Go Giants!

Joey

"It's all about knowing what your firearms practical limitations are and combining that with your own personal limitations!"

Joey hope all went well with you job yesterday, I only saw the last few innings when I got home from work. They are really looking good but we need to get Cain and Cassia back. Even though we are up 5 over the Dodgers their pitching is starting to dominate. The thing we are doing very well this year is hitting with two outs...we have scored 104 this season with two outs, not bad. Go Giant's.

"Bring it, let's see what you got?"

Wainwright this, Wainwright that, poo on Wainwright! lol Against our Giants, i'm concerned about new guys or ones i never heard of before more than i am about ESPN hype guys like Wainwright!

We might have a bit of trouble tomorrow with our long reliever starting. Maybe not!!

Cain, Posey, Scoots, Cass, Belt,.. with 5 or 6 of our best players out, we can only lose a few more players before our performance on the field will start to suffer.

Go Giants!!

Joey

"It's all about knowing what your firearms practical limitations are and combining that with your own personal limitations!"

LAST EDITED ON May-31-14 AT 07:58AM (MST)[p]I think larrbo might be right. Maybe we better hang with the Panda and his cowboy boots for now. If it's not broke, don't fix it! We may not have the best talent, but we got the best team!

Edit: The best way to get Pablo out is to throw a 90 mph fastball right down the middle. Throw the ball any where else and he will hurt you!:)

Eel

This is getting fun to watch. I love the chemistry of this team...if one guy doesn't get the RBI the next batter does with two outs. I got to keep working on Sage to make him a Panda fan.

LAST EDITED ON May-31-14 AT 08:37AM (MST)[p]When he is playing, not hurt or too fat, and hitting like he is now, it's easy enough to want to keep him and i'll go along with that. But when he's not hot and/or not playing well, he's near worthless as a trade item. While we now travel around and/or receive all of Baseball at our home park, many teams look at him in a different level and many may wish they could get him on their team if they only had someone good enough that they could let go. If we are not going to keep him and give him a new fat contract, i say trade him while we can get somebody good or some good bodies for him.

As i've said here several time in past years, when he gets hot, he just about can carry a team by himself. Too bad that i don't like him and see through all his, "i just want to work hard and help the team..." mantra. It's a contract year and believe me, Panda is doing what he's doing for a contract! He wants the Big money and his being a great cheerleader and team-mate, It's all part of doing what Panda wants to do with the end goal of signing his name on the dotted line to a fat 100 Million dollar contract, pass that platter of supreme burritos please, and no further worries!

I realize that my thoughts on the matter would be less popular as Pablo heated up and did more for the team. I can live with keeping him and respect any other opinions on the matter. Mine are simply food for thought and what i'd do if the Giants were my team to do with as i pleased. :)

Feed that Beast!!

Giants show why they have best record in baseball

There have once again been questions as to why and how the San Francisco Giants are once again the best team in the National League, once again seemingly without the star or name power of other, flashier clubs.

And once again, they're letting their opponents figure out the answers, if they can. The Cardinals had no clue Friday. They barely had time to think.

How? Why?

The Giants silenced all doubts that their 36-19 record is for real with a very loud beating of maybe the best pitcher in the league and definitely of last year?s NL champions.

The 9-4 victory over the Cardinals ? San Francisco?s fourth straight win and eighth of nine ? showcased all the ways the lethally unassuming team can win.

They grinded out at-bats. They scored with two outs. They launched the occasional home run. They gritted, they battled and they fought to light up the scoreboard, while their starter was lights out. They did it all without their best player for the second night in a row.

And you still might not believe in half the names on the lineup card.

?That's the way it always is with us, it seems like,? said Madison Bumgarner, who held up his end of the supposed pitcher?s duel against Adam Wainwright by fanning 10 over seven scoreless innings. ?Both (World Series) years we didn't get any credit. We?re fine with that. We don't need any credit. We know what kind of team we are. We?re not playing to get credit. We?re playing to win and playing to win championships.?

San Francisco has won two championships in the past four years, in 2010 and 2012, both times with similarly constructed teams. They revolve around excellent, home-grown pitching talent, timely hitting and fundamental play.

Sound like any other team you know?

They now hold the National League?s best record by three games, having played the entire season without starting second baseman Marco Scutaro, the last three weeks without starting first baseman Brandon Belt, and stretches ? like the entirety of this series with the Cardinals ? without catcher and former MVP Buster Posey.

The names in the lineup ? Brandon Hicks, Gregor Blanco, Michael Morse ? may only faintly ring a bell, but they combine to produce a gritty, versatile team that's greater than the sum of its parts.

?We?ve been getting a lot of contributions from everybody,? said Posey. ?That's been the main thing.??

After Friday?s game right fielder Hunter Pence didn't bring up his 447-foot home run into the seats in Big Mac Land, an accomplishment even when it doesn't come against a pitcher like Wainwright.

Pence instead mentioned the 10-pitch at-bat Hicks worked into a two-out walk three batters before him, that started what would become a four-run rally.

?The foul balls, the foul balls, working a walk ? that's big,? Pence said. ?You?re trying to fight, claw and scratch.?

Hicks isn't the only grinder. Blanco saw eight pitches before lining a two-run single in the fifth. Catcher Hector Sanchez, starting in place of Posey, fought through an 11-pitch at-bat. The Giants wore Wainwright down before they ran him over.

?That shows a lot about the team that we are,? Hicks said. ?The way we fight.?

Bumgarner developed into an ace a while ago; his dominant performance Friday made him 7-3 with a 2.85 ERA.

Cleanup hitter Morse may end up being the most valuable offseason signing in the National League. He continued to rip up Cardinals pitching and now has four hits and four RBIs in two games so far at Busch. His 38 RBIs are good for third in the league.

Leadoff hitter Angel Pagan is hitting .326, and Pence has adjusted phenomenally to the No. 2 spot in the order. He?s second in the league in runs scored.

?We have so many big bats right now, my role is kind of to set the table,? said Pence, who hit 27 home runs last year.

Pence has been integral in making, at least so far, the series between last year?s NL champions and this year?s best team almost completely one-sided.

Maybe these last two games will help answer some of those questions.

?This was a big series coming in,? Bumgarner said. ?(The Cardinals) have just as good a chance as anybody to be in the postseason and they probably will be.?

Great article Eel...you really feel this is a team that's playing for the team not self.
Sage, I was going to get you a panda hat for your birthday but I guess get something else:) The real proof of this team is how they handle a team slump. Until then...enjoy the ride.

Bring it!!

Nice 3 out 4 series in St Louie!! And, we did it with a lot of our guys out but soon to be back. Giants are clearly the class of the National League if not all of Baseball. Keep it up men!!!

Go Giants!!

Joey

Well I guess you could say the boys are rolling!

Curious roster move today with huff being dfa clearing roster spot on the 40. Almost sounds as if Scutaro may be getting close? Or maybe they are going to promote a catcher?

Huff hasn't been stellar but it's a tough spot being the long man something is about to happen.

Great outing by Cain.

Who makes the all star team? Bum should start if he keeps it up posey likely to be #2 catcher and if Machi don't make it that's just wrong. If Pablo keeps rolling he could get in too

It tells you a lot when the Giant's have the best record in baseball and are playing great and might not have a starter in the All Star game. We just booked our tickets, flight and hotel for the series with the Padres in San Diego in September. Go Giant's.

It really was nice to see Posey hit that long HR yesterday! If he gets rolling, lol, we really going to be tough to beat. I don't see Posey getting real hot though, he's been looking awful tired and beat up. I hope he pulls out of my impression and goes on a terror.

Interesting Pitching match up this evening, Colon vs Hudson, two veteran outstanding former A's pitchers. Should be a battle.

All-stars? Huddy and Bum, Posey, our Morse, Pagan, Pence outfield, Craw maybe for his HR's and awesome "D", and a couple from our pen mentioned above. We will probably be lucky to have more than 3 or 4 of our guys go, looks to me like Posey might be our best chance of being a starter but Molina gets tons of hype and is having a pretty good year.

Go Giants!!

Joey

Talk about having confidence in your team, it really is nice. We were behind 3-0 then 4-1 but there wasn't ever a thought in my mind at any time that we weren't going to come back and Win the game...and we did.

Awesome!!!

Go Giants!!

Joey

"It's all about knowing what your firearms practical limitations are and combining that with your own personal limitations!"

We had every reason to lay down last night. Their pitcher was good and Hudson was hanging by a thread every inning. I hope he's okay. Every win counts! Big kudos to Pagan for hustling in the 9th to cause the throwing error at first!

100 Hunter Percent!

"Chemistry"

Oh so important! +1

Hunter Pence, "Full Throttle" That one in the ribs he took looked like it might had killed a "normal person". ;-)

4 game in a row with the Nat's, 3 evening and a day game. Historically, they have had the edge these past years, they seemed to rise to the occasions when playing the Giants. I don't know how to pick this series other than to root for the good guys and hope for our Team to again rise up to the challenge.

It would be awesome to win another series from a tough team but this run can't last forever, can it? Sure it can!! lol

Go Giants!!

Joey

"It's all about knowing what your firearms practical limitations are and combining that with your own personal limitations!"

When Bochy going start drilling other teams batter in retaliation
for hitting our player???
Our team is getting no respect as it is and now
today I heard the word wuzzies! !
Come Boch let Bum drill someone out of spite!
No say head them in the head unless it a Dodger player....
Just a nice 90 plus in the Back...
Jester

Agreed Eel. I put my money on the August series in New York that someone on the Met's has sore ribs after facing Mad Bum.

Well it worked larrbo. Whew!

jester, Kevin Fransden (sp) paid the piper in the 9th via Sergio Romo. Drilled him pretty good.

Eel

The orange shirt worked today. The Giant's won and I drew my elk tag. So for wife's birthday last week I gave her a 4 day trip to San Diego Sept. 19-22 to watch the Giant's. Today I drew a Northeastern California bull elk tag...once in a lifetime, the hunt is Sept. 17-28. Oh no! After I told my wife about the tag she said........ Sell the Giant's tickets you are going hunting. She's a keeper.

Cool ...
my ole lady is like that too...
I spoil her 11 months a year..mostly..duck season is hit and miss and she labeled herself a duck widow. . She's a bit pissed about 5 deer tags..4 states.
Jester

larrbo, that would be a nice hunt, no question. I think you should honor your commitment to your wife and take her to San Diego though. You should turn the tag back in. Some poor alternate would love to have that tag.

Joey

:)J/K

Eel, good effort, your check is in the mail.

I'm sure Larry will be laughing, when he sees this, just as hard as i am now. Good one!!! LMAO

Joey

You guys are too much. Joey, I'm going up there to hunt this year just to scout the area for when you draw your tag next year.

Friday the 13th, Full moon, what can one expect?

Joey

"It's all about knowing what your firearms practical limitations are and combining that with your own personal limitations!"

In the top of the 9th, word spread throughout the dugout that larrbo had cancelled his trip to San Diego. I blame larrbo:)

Eel

Boy, it really has hit hard watching our Giants get beat in the very last part of these 3 games with Colo. Game 3 is still in progress, i'm not throwing in the towel quite yet but the Rockies have just come back in the eighth inning to take away what normally looked to be a nice little lead, to a one run advantage for the Rockies. They did it again!!

Kinda like going on a looked forward to date with a gal you really like. Take her to Dinner or out on the town having a great time only to have some other dude later on in the evening, sweep her off her feet, and be the one to take her home... Sucks!! lol

Go Giants!!

Joey

"It's all about knowing what your firearms practical limitations are and combining that with your own personal limitations!"

Well they filled the spot on the 40 man today when they signed the Cuban. Should be interesting to see how he does. But this also means if Scutato comes back someone has to get DFAd. And if they bring Susac up same

Also lots of chatter about the giants in the Jeff samardzia sweepstakes

We ought to be due for a post from cowboy57... or whatever his handle is. He likes to stop in and gloat if the giants are doing poorly or the Dodgers doing good.

Hudson tomorrow against another one of those guys who gets tons of hype from ESPN writers as the best Pitcher in Baseball. I like our chances!! :)

Go Giants!!

Joey

"It's all about knowing what your firearms practical limitations are and combining that with your own personal limitations!"

Sage as much as I want to it's a long season and we are from being a good team now you guys get your panties in bunch when I make my comments about your team to much it's all in good fun.my dad was a die hard giant fan so you know him and I went around and around about BB wish he was still to do that I would wish you and yours good luck but...... cowboy p.s. I might need some infoe on northern cali in the future so respectively stop make negative comment to your column about the giants but need a new closer thoe

Well shucks. This might be long winded and guarantee it's over thought since I'm working tonight

First I think we are coming to a transition point in baseball where we see the "closer" become a thing of the past. I mean really there are only so many eckersley's lee smith Trevor Hoffman in this game. I say yeah if you got one roll it if not what's wrong with by committee? Give Machi some more run

Now is Pagan really injured or is it his pride? I was thinking his little mini slump last week may have just carried over to defense but now he is in Arizona eek. Give blanco credit he is really stepping in but with Bochy playing the stupid lefty righty thing all the time I don't think Perez can tow the rope until belt gets back and morse can go back to left. But maybe he will get hot

Matt Cain supposed to be our horse he has got to find some rythym best game he threw he got a no decision. Lots of cash tied up in that guy he has got to turn the page. Vogey has and he was all but down the road til they realized they couldn't do any better.

As for Hicks not sure the contract situation if he could be optioned to fresno or not but he has to get his head screwed on again it's not getting any better good dude would love to see it pan out but dang.

Well not sure who is losing their job today but Joe Panik has been called up. Since he's not on the 40 someone is getting DFA and if that someone isn't on the 25 someone else is going to fresno.

Wow dunning down the road. Hopefully no one snags him thought he had a future and the giants may regret it if the trade pitching later this season

Perez back to fresno to make room for Panik

Well that's not very comforting. I know we've lost 9 of the last 10 games but I didn't think it was time to Panik just yet:)

Eel

Nitis, interesting comments.

I'm one for a structured bullpen, one that each guy knows what's expected of him and what part of the game he's to do his thing. Pen by Committee seems to be fine for some teams and it'a always needed at times but i think if guys know ahead of time what their job is, the better.

I believe Pagan is injured, not faking it. Blanco was doing great off the bench. And yes, Cain needs his groove back. We NEED him! It'll be interesting to watch him pitch tonight.

Not sure what to think of Hicks. Hard to figure the way he was swinging the bat earlier in the season to how he is, or isn't, now. I think he done lost his job...to...your guy Panik. Bochy likes to give the reg guys plenty of chances but if Panik lives up to or exceeds his hype, he should be the guy we go with. Hicks being a good guy or not, might have messed up his career with this bad slump he's in. So far in Panik, what's not to like?

Well, good on the Giants to take the series from Az. Md Bum was awesome. Several hero's going good, yet my thoughts of the last few games goes to Crawford. His average is just so so but the man has been doing great at the plate. He don't always get hits but he's been hitting the ball really well. I really like his AB's right now and how he's picking up for guys not being able to play!

Looking down the line, our series a SD is to begin tonight in SF with Cashner Pitching for SD. I see Cashners record is not that hot but he's a quality Pitcher, much better than his record this year might show. I'm torn between being happy that Cashner was scratched, unknown reasons at this time, for tonight's game or wishing that i could watch him pitch against our Giants. Oh well, he's scratched and some guy i never heard of before is in. I hate that!

Go Giants!!

Joey

"It's all about knowing what your firearms practical limitations are and combining that with your own personal limitations!"

I hear Joe Panik comes highly endorsed by Will Clark. You can't get a better recommendation than that, IMO. I bet he doesn't disappoint.

We'll have to deal with Scrutero at some point, but life goes on.

Eel

Obviously pagan is actually injured. Hopefully it won't be long or maybe we might finally see gary brown

I guess I just like strategy of all shapes and sizes whether it's roster moves or bunt or not. I guess that's from many summers coaching fast pitch. Now I'm finally old enough to handle the slower pace of baseball

"Hopefully it won't be long or maybe we might finally see gary brown"

If we do see Gary Brown, i only hope it is the improved Gary Brown over the Gary Brown we saw last season and this spring. Personally, i think Perez has more upside, if not more potential but he's already with the big club and hasn't yet done that well.

I read somewhere the Hunter P. has been icing his back as well...

The extra outfield guys we carry can play but can they play to Championship type levels? As is, I really don't think so. Sabs ought to be looking long and hard a bringing in some "good" help.

Joey

""It's all about knowing what your firearms practical limitations are and combining that with your own personal limitations!"

The only reason I keep wanting to see brown is they have him on the 40 so let's see what he has. I know there are some nuances to the option rules that I don't really understand but more than likely they will call him up in September so why not now?

If not he is taking up space on the 40 and we wouldn't of had to potentially lose Dunning who I think has tons of upside.

I totally agree about Perez having upside but this back and forth to fresno is costing him at bats that he needs.

Again a very Enimic (sp?) Offense pound away at
Cain.....
I wish Bochy would swap him to number 5 spot..
I get Cain doesn't get run support. . But change would
help him..
jester

jester, yeah, i agree. Cain must be running out of rope with the Giant's management. He's just not Pitching well at all.

Here we go and lose to another no name guy. Like i mentioned earlier, i hate it when we go up against someone new and would generally much rather us go up against a big name pitcher.

When a Pitcher with a great record and big name comes up against us, there is a book on him that our guys can know and be expecting. Also, the big name guy doesn't usually care. He's got what he's got, hit it if you can, but i'm going to throw what got me where i am.

The new guy? We just don't seem to do well against them and tonight was another perfect example.

Ha ha ....
no name pitcher is like a prom date that won't put out...
but give her a few years....slut!

LAST EDITED ON Jun-24-14 AT 00:00AM (MST)[p]I'll go against the grain here. Cain threw well tonight and I'll go so far as to say almost well enough to win

Had there been any sense of offense he would have never been in the game as late as he was if it was 3-2 instead of 3-0 he wouldn't have seen the 8th no way no how. It's almost as if Bochum is using is starters as long relievers in a sense at times.

Just got to be patient it's baseball it all works itself out

Just curious but at this point in the season what good would it do to change his place in the rotation? It's not like he is matching up with the number two from each team he faces. I could see if he needed a spell and he skipped a start but you aren't going to reinvent your rotation midseason

LAST EDITED ON Jun-24-14 AT 02:57AM (MST)[p]nitis, I don't agree that Cain Pitched well. I've seen him pitch well plenty of times before and lose but this tonight was nothing like those times. Didn't you see all those belt high pitches, grooved straight as can be pitches right over center of the plate that were missed, fouled off, or left un-hit? Some of those pitches, i actually closed my eyes, didn't want to watch! lol

A good hitting team would have scored 10 runs, 3-4-5 Hr's, off him, certainly way more than the Padres did. Also, he got lucky in drawing the home plate umpire that he did. Compared to what is now seemingly normal, that ump had a really big strike zone and with Cain's control problems, that also helped save him from further damage. On a 1 to 10, best i can give Cain for tonight was a 4.

That said, i'll agree that we can't win if we don't score any runs!

Cain is my man, i really like the guy, always have, and love to see him do well. But he ain't getting it done near consistently enough. I've seen him turn his Season completely around before, hope he can do so again and i believe that's what the Giants Brass is hoping for too. For now, i'd like to see him work on keeping the ball in the lower part of the strike zone and rely more on off speed stuff and control instead of his power pitching up in the zone like he used to get away with.

As i said not too long ago, No Team wins much more than 100 of 162 games. There will be disappointments.

Go Huddy!!

True. I guess I should say he pitched well enough to win against the padres. I didn't actually watch most of the game I listened on the radio but like I said if there had been any offensive spark no way he sees the 8th frame

The Giant's have two pitchers with way different motions that have struggled with command of their pitches...Timmy and Cain. Cain is harder to understand because he has a compact motion unlike Timmy. As I watched the game last night I noticed that Cain was off balance several times after he released the ball and his arm was pulling across in front of his body. So we watch him throw several good pitches then he hangs one in the middle of the zone on a 0-2 pitch. I don't know why it is taking Rag's so long to get this fixed with him.

Let's talk about Hudson. Seems to me that the last few games he's pitched were very stressed games, not at all like the games before he missed a start or maybe... maybe before he got "injured".

The Games against the Mets, Washington, and the WSox, he only averaged going just over 5 innings, giving up 9 hits, and allowing just shy of 4 runs per game. This recent history is a far cry from what he had going in his previous 7 games where he only allowed 9 total runs and averaged about 7 plus innings.

So, today's game interests me as always but in particular, i'm going to be watching Hudson. I expect him to chew through this lineup due to the quality pitcher that he is but his recent numbers are showing that he's been struggling and i'm concerned that maybe he was more seriously hurt or injured than what the Team let on...

Anybody care to speculate how long it takes Belt to get in a positive groove once he gets back playing with the big club? I hope it's fast! If he can remember where he left it, we could use his bat!! :)

Yeah I believe I said he would be in the unemployment line

I think he will be DFA very soon. Too bad ems like a good dude

LAST EDITED ON Jun-25-14 AT 05:21AM (MST)[p]The Giants need to get their swagger back.

I'm not sure just how this is going to happen but it will. Could be a blowout game where they win 12-0 where everybody gets at least 2 hits, could be by 3 or 4 guys going back to back to back on long HRs, or it just might be by us taking a nice sweep off a good team.

The Swagger will return though, hopefully it will return with Pagan in tomorrow's lineup. Pagan, this guy is the grease that helps turn the gears to this team. I guess the big decision for either him to play or go on the DL will be tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed. We need the grease!!

Huddy, 5+ innings, 9 hits, 4 E. Runs, his normal lately, last 4 games anyway. ho hum.

Pablo, swinging the bat pretty good these past few weeks. I'll wager he's wondering just as much, if not more than i, why no HRs? It's been a good long while. As hard and as nice of a swing as he's been putting on a lot of the swing throughs and/or foul balls, you'd think that he'd run one screaming over the wall now and again...He's Due!

There ought to be a Law against "new guys" pitching against our Giants. I'd vote to make it a Felony! :)

Swagger guys!!

Joey

Pagan has to be the missing link. Hard to believe one guy can make such a difference. But when he went down last year it was a constant struggle

Just because Pagan is out doesn't mean out pitchers have to throw underhand over the middle of the plate:)

I HAVE BEEN TO THREE GAMES THIS YEAR THUS FAR, LOST 2 WON ONE. I AGREE......WE NEED A HEALTHY PAGAN. WE WILL HEAT UP SOON !!!!............YD.

Duvall gets the call pagan to DL

One thing I'm thinking is due is a shakeup in the batting order. In my opinion posey isn't fast enough to be a 3 hitter. I know Pablo isn't much faster but let's shake something up here.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-25-14 AT 04:32PM (MST)[p]No No!!! Big Time Jimmy Jim!! How cool is THAT??

Got Swagger? I think so! :)

Go Giants!!

TIMMY!!!!!

2nd NO hitter in 12 months vs. Padres!!! Wow, he now has 2 no-hitters, 2 Cy Youngs, and 2 World Series rings. Maybe he should chance his number to 2?!?!

Wtf. Machi is human I guess gives up two runs and is still under 1 era

Welcome to bigs Duvall. Not sure where your going to play when Belt comes back?

As hot as pence is he needs to be our 3 hitter and Crawford in the 2 spot. Maybe belt in the two when he is back.

Cheer up...June is over and it's July. No more boring 9 1/2 game lead, now we have a pennant race. Go Giant's.

Debated on starting a new for July to get started on the right foot

But bad news today pagan has a set back bulging disc in lower back. Off to a dr in LA

Belt should be back and ready tomorrow. He has played two games at first base probably would have been back tonight but with a lefty starting my guess wait one more day.

There is talk of putting Hunter P in the lead off position and running Crawford out there second. Being Pagan might be out indefinitely, nobody knows yet, I'd like to see this, at least give it a go.

Blanco, he did decent in pinch hits and filling in early, just like last year, but when there were injury's and he needed to fill in and play every day, he gets fly ball happy and pops everything up for easy outs... just like last year.

Morse, yeah he's playing hurt but the Beast has not been playing like the beast. Get that guy hooked up, me thinks he's off his meds or "something". Long live the Beast!

There are sooo many places that i can point the finger at now and complain. At least our Starters have had decent numbers this past go around or two. We really need some new blood in a couple few places as the infusions that were tried, they didn't take and the season is too tight and isn't long enough to let them play out.

We once again, need a Rabbit or two out of a hat!!

Go Giants!!

Joey

Not sure why Belt has had to play so long for fresno maybe there are rules about length of rehab but he was ready three days ago.

Pence at the top hopefully Crawford two but that will turn into Belt at two once he is back

I wonder what the chances of teasing for Ichiro are? Rumor is the takers are willing to eat salary. I would feel way more confident with him there than any other option no matter if he has lost a step.

At least we are finally shaking things up
