Anybody like BlackBerry Smoke and Jamey Johnson?
It’s amazing how Jamey can write songs about the ole days!
I’d Ike to see them but its GA then select seating so no matter what it’s standing all night!
I think I’ll hang out all afternoon to get Jamey to sign my Martin

I going to start a post about crazy things you did when you were younger!
We put Red’s 4 wheeler straddling the ridge of his roof Christmas Eve! Let’s just say he wasn’t happy! I asked him if he had a picture of it the other day he said he’d look! He still didn’t look happy about that and that was 40 years ago!

I went to see Marshall Tucker band recently and they were terrible. Only original band member was the lead singer and being in his 70s his voice was gone.
Went to see Frankie Valii a couple years ago and it was a good show even though he was in his 80s.
Went to see Crystal Gayle a couple years ago and she was terrible.

Before my time but I’d go see them for sure!
I did see them live at a 'rock 7 roll' matinee show at the Brooklyn Paramount in 1955.

A lot of the old bands do the second tier casino circuit like Laughlin, NV. Don’t cost much, maybe $50 a ticket or sometimes they are comped.

they were after my high school days but Sawyer Brown was also very very good

Heading to Denver this summer to see Def Leppard, Poison and Motley Crue. Saw Def Leppard and Poison 5 years ago and had a great time.

We are seeing Rod Stewart in a couple of weeks at Vegas. Outside of that we are doing more local shows like at county fairs and Grand Junction. They may not be big names but we don't mind.

Our State Fair used to have country music headliners. They don't any more, too expensive, people can't afford them. Second tier acts now.
The small bands that you see at these county fairs may be better than some of the old big names.

iron maiden is still great, metallica i think would be good but a lot of water under the bridge since i last saw them in 1991 or 2. Saw George Jones a few years before he died and he was great.

Never even gave Country Jam a thought. Lol. And you're right, they bring in several big names! We do the Avalon and the Las Colonias Amphitheater frequently. This year the Garfield County Fair has Big and Rich.

My first show was Grand Funk Railroad in 1974 I was 12
Mine was Van Halen in 1980 and I was 12. Lied my a-- off and told my parents I was going to meet friend's at Baskin Robbins. Got home and after my dad whooped my a-- then my mom took over and continued with my dad's plan. Then they asked me if it was worth it-I said yes and then it all happened again. Van Halen showed up in Vegas again for their 1984 album called- 1984-I did not even think about going. Seen them next time in 2011. A-- whoopens do work!! 27 years can make a difference. So, when our 3 girls snuck out to go see Toby and Eric Church, I welcomed them home.LOL

I saw 38 special a couple of years ago and that was sure depressing. Sammy Hagar has a 30 minute show on now and it’s hard to watch when he performs on it. I guess some things are better left as memories

You couldn't pay me to sit through another Jamey Johnson show.....love his music.....the 20 minute instramentals in his show will put you to sleep....

I did see Don Williams not long before he passed away and he sounded just as good as he did on all his records. Dwight Yoakum still does a good show too!

My fiancee got us tickets for my birthday last September to see Eric Clapton and Jimmy Vaughn in Houston. 20th row, center stage. Fantastic show!

I'd give both my nuts to see a 1980 Van Halen. That had to be a great show

Well now that I think about it-it was 80 or 81 actually. I know it was the Fair Warning tour. It was a loud and in your face concert. When I saw them again in 2011 it definitely brought back a lot of memories. Vegas was a neat place to grow up back then but can't compare to the Whiskey-A-Go-Go when Motely Crue played in 89 along with many others during that time frame.

This is The Bomb!
My Problem
1) too old
2) no money
3) too old
4) too much money

This Circuit is one that F1 uses in the season!
You have to watch

In the early 80s, I was working as a wholesale rep for photo gear. All of AZ & NM, plus LV was the territory I covered. I spent two days in LV every 4 weeks. It was neat back then. Several years ago, my wife & I drove up to watch my HS alma mater from NJ play a football game vs Bishop Gorman. That was the first time I had been there in about 30 years. I didn't recognize the place.

The Beatles, but it's probably too late.
Will a one-man reprise work...

The former Beatle on Friday announced his 13-city U.S. “Got Back” concert tour, which begins at the Spokane Arena in Washington on April 28 and concludes at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. on June 16. That is just two days before McCartney’s 80th birthday.

At this point, the itinerary includes two California dates — May 6 in Oakland and May 13 in Los Angeles, where McCartney and his band will perform at SoFi Stadium, the site of last week’s NFL Super Bowl game and hip-hop celebrating halftime show.

I'm not. My wife is a big Foo Fighter fan.

They put on a HELL of a show. Fun watching guys who enjoy playing, and who are multi talented.

Played long enough, the soccer mom's got liquored up. Saw more boobs there, than any of the hair metal shows I saw in the day.?

Bummer about Taylor Hawkins dying.

Fair awarding is my favorite album of theirs. That was Eddie's BEST playing IMO. Little progressive on that album

I have been to many concerts- Country, Rock, Hard Rock and Folk. The Eagles Faerwell Tour show is my all time favorite. It was amazing but two songs really stood out - In The City and Sunset Grill. In the City is Joe Walsh's song and Sunset Grill is Don Henleys. In The City was the most evocative song I have ever heard in concert. Will never forget that night.

All the real country entertainers are dead so scratch that.

The Stones

Mark Knopfler

Fleetwood Mac, but only if Lindsey Buckingham returns.

Togwotee, do you know of JJ Cale? I think Mark was a fan or maybe just copied JJ’s guitar sound!

I know right!? There were no cell phone cameras back in the early to mid eighties! NO DRUGS BUT BEER WAS ALWAYS THE CATALYST! I talked to Red the other day to see if he had or found a picture of the 4wheeler in photo album but he didn’t mention it! When I would tell some of these stories back in the day at Miss Kitty’s I always got the eye of YEAH RIGHT! Until one day a guy came in that none of us knew but after he and I were talking we ended up knowing the same people and he was there when this incident happened and after that no one ever questioned me again LOL!

I've only been to two. Willie Nelson and Ringo Starr and his all-star band. They were both here and not that good. Willie only came here to get free weed. After the show, people in the audience threw 10 pounds of home grown onto the stage.

The Highwaymen tour was awesome!! My folks took me to see that when I was a kid but apparently (as you have seen from my previous post) Van Halen was not acceptable. LOL There was more weed in the air during Willie than David Lee Roth but beings he was country-it was ok!! Fun memories.

Don’t do concerts, same reason I don’t do party boat fishing, but……… if I had to…….. Creedence.
Do you get seasick at concerts, too??

Oh, wait, that's eel with the party boat ailment.

I like a few CCR tunes, most notable 'Have you Ever seen the rain?, Born on the Bayou' & I heard it through the Grapevine."

In the '70s, I also like the Commodores. Favorite song is 'Easy on Sunday Morning."

Ha….. nope, I can fish and puke, no problem………

I can’t explain it any better than our friend and mentor…….Woodrow.

Concerts are waaaaaaaay too cozy for a grumpy sob like me.

Here's a tale about a Ted Nugent concert I attended many years ago...

*****
Years ago, back in the '80s before the Web came into existence, my best friend, who lives in MD, and I ran a huge conglomeration of of outdoor-related forums on Compuserve. At the time, it was THE place to be. Of course, one forum was dedicated to hunting, and one of the sections was "Ted Nugent." He was personally very active there for years, so we had lots of message exchanges & became online friends.

When I found out he was going to be here in Phx for a concert at Desert Sky, I mentioned that I would like to interview him for an article. A few days later, my phone rang at 6 a.m. It was Ted calling from a limo on his way to an airport in CT. He had called information for my number.

End result: He left me and my oldest son two tickets, as well as a pass to enter his "Bloodbrothers" meeting before the concert, at Will Call. We did the interview before he went on stage, and he told me to come back there again after the show to party a bit, which we did.

Now here's the amusing part:

Our tickets were in the reserved section, dead-center and about 10 rows back from the stage. When the warm-up band started playing, my guts started vibrating and my ears began ringing because we had TWO humongous amps pointed at us from less than 25 ft. away.

After about five minutes, we got up and went up to the open seating on the grassy hillside for the rest of the concert. On the way, I handed our reserved seat tickets to a young couple, hoping they might enjoy the close-up noise more than we did.

Was Shemane there?

Yup. The humongous amps is just a small part of that environment that makes me want to pick up a long handled pair of hoof nippers and get to work…….. I know what triggers me and try to ignore it……. when possible.

I saw Rush for their I think 35th anniversary tour in Cleveland. Turns out they were filming a DVD for it and I didn't even know it going in. There were small blimps flying around at the Q filming the whole thing. Vocals were pretty rough but man them guys can jam.

I agree, I saw Rush lots of times back in the day.

I’m more of a club band guy now. I would really like to see Slightly Stoopid in a bar somewhere. Or at Redrocks.

Don’t do concerts, same reason I don’t do party boat fishing, but……… if I had to…….. Creedence.
John Fogerty… what a talent!
he did get the best payback when he wouldn’t play the RHOF Concert if the other two members were allowed to play
I love it when a plan comes together!

I watched a couple concerts at Big Mac in Denver.

Earth, Wind and Fire was awesome.

Somebody, Southern Pacific, Ricky Skaggs and George Strait. All were good. There were several empty seats about 4 rows back, near center stage. As college kids, we seized that opportunity as Southern Pacific was setting up.

I saw Firefall in Eureka, CA...maybe 1980 or so. Decent concert.

Joe Diffie. If he was still alive, I would travel quite a ways to see him again.

Was Shemane there?
No, but his daughter Sasha was there. I saw her briefly when she came into Ted's dressing room during our interview before the show to tell him he needed to get his ear dealies fitted. She served as his road manager back then. She was young then but a nice looking lady already. I don't believe he was even married to Shemane yet.

Sasha...
