SLC trail questions

Quick couple of questions, never hunted the extended, bear w/ me.

For the few trails near Bountiful/SLC that have gates and specific hours, do people usually get up there early and wait for someone to open the gates, then hike up to hunt? I imagine the only way to be out there hiking before the 8am opening time is if you use some other trail that crosses into that area, correct?

Also noticed a couple signs said if your car is there after a certain time it would be locked behind the gate overnight. If you shoot a deer near dark it sounds like you're better off leaving it to be recovered the next day rather than recovering/deboning it and coming down late that night. Signs also said no overnight camping past some of the gates, but if you leave the animal and it snows wouldn't you risk losing the trail?

May just end up hunting some other canyons.

Thanks.
