Hey guys,

Went down to scout unit 46 for the hunt around agriculture land for a few days and found less elk than I expected. Anyone ever done this hunt? Stayed mostly in the southern half of the unit. Is this predominately a migration hunt? It's within one mile of AG and the farmers or ranchers we talked to said they don't see elk around their places. Were they BSing us because this is more or less a landowner tag just to appease the farmers? Any tips would be great. Thank you.

A couple of problems. One, there are probably a few ranchers/farmers that are being affected and the f and g wanted to try to halt that behavior quickly. Secondly, the elk depredates at night. That was one of the reasons the f and g killed elk on a "research study" at night in fields. Lastly, that hunt started last year, and I am sure the elk are already educated. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. All though you may find some later in the summer that are moving in.
