Spending Question

Can anyone explain what is meant by environmental justice or environmental equity? It’s being proposed that we spend 20 billion on it. What is it and how does a dollar value be assigned to it? I hope someone can enlighten me.

Environmental justice is basically zoning. It’s talking about poor people (typically they’re speaking about minorities) living in industrial areas where there are higher concentrations of pollution. Kind of common sense to most of us since the three rules of real estate is location, location, location that poor people end up living in areas that have a lot of industry. But they want to spend big money to correct this zoning problem now. To my thinking if they didn’t want residential near industrial, they should have put zoning restrictions in the beginning

Don’t forget the impacts on the extraction end of the equation. And if you really want to take a deep dive, look at the federal role in negotiating compensation as a ”trustee” on behalf of it’s beneficiaries.

I fully expect to see a claim on federal lands as reparations. :(
