Spirit Ridge Rifle Golf... Fun, Fun, Fun!!!

Got to shoot the Spirit Ridge Rifle Golf Course in Northern Utah the other day and had a "blast".

I shot the classic course and the shots ranged from 200 - 600 yard shots. I shot some elk, deer, moose, bears a pig, an antelope and a coyote. Shot their front 9 and as part of the experience they give you a chance to shoot the vitals on a moose or Buffalo at the 1000 yard range. I was amazed at how far 1000 yards is. I was able to get the elevation close on the 3rd shot at the 1000 yard range but the wind was so finicky the closest I got was 4 feet to the right at 1000 yards. Several others in the group were even closer.

This was a super fun course and great opportunity to try out the new rifle scope, loads, ballistic drop chart, and nerves.

If you ever get the chance to go... you need to do it!

I can't wait for the hunts!!!

I've shot the course several times. It is an absolute blast. Good bunch of guys running the show to.

I've shot it a couple of times and it's without a doubt the most fun I've had shooting a rifle at a range.

It's probably the nicest range of it's type (longrange "western" hunting conditions) in the west. It may be the best in the nation.
I've shot a few nice ranges, but these guys have it figured out.

Ditto on the guys that run the place. They're a great group of guys.

I can't wait to go shoot it again. It's addictive!

I've shot it twice now. Not only is it a lot of fun, it gives you real life hunting situations (except shooting from a bench) and the yardages are odd numbers. For example, the targets are set at 515, 276, 188, etc. not your typical 300,400,500 yardages. It is a lot like golf, frustrating at times but a ton of fun. I could have shot that thing over and over again.

Its worth every penny! It's not any more than 18 holes and a cart for regular golf and it's a hell of a lot more fun.

We do a piece of plywood 4x8 covered with playing cards side by side, and you shoot for the best hand,Add in long distance with a little money bet on each hand you get serious about becoming a better shooter in a hurry, in our shooting group it all about bragging rights. LOL
In my nephews group they all use 30-378 only if you don't shoot a 30-378 you do get to join, out here we don't care what you use it all about hitting and making your hand.
Texas hold-em is a fun game no matter where you play it.
We use to get the decks of cards from the local casino but now we just buy them when we find them on sale..

This range sound like it would be a blast to shoot it.

I've shot the range and it's a lot of fun and you learn a lot about your rifle and shooting different angles, in wind, etc. It's much more like real hunting than going to the range. I got invited to the contest they had a few weeks ago but the registration was too much $$ for this poor boy. If I had the money I'd go out there more regularly.
