Do they work good as advertised?

I have had a spot gen 2 for several years and upgraded to a 3 this year. I carry it anytime I am offroad (Jeep), hunting, hiking, fishing, you get the idea. I love the mapping feature (online, so you can see where you were and others can track you) and with the 3 you can actually communicate back and forth.
The insurance is also very cheap and will pay up to $100,000 of your rescue costs, including a whirlybird to fly you out if needed.
For the low cost of peace of mind, I would definitely say they are worth it. My family would tell you the same thing.
