My 17 year old son drew a spring bear tag in Utah by accident. I meant to do the bait season, since we've got an established bait spot that has been used by friends for 6 or 7 years now. With a very cold wet winter, never saw any action all of April. Usually out shed hunting, we always see bears shed hunting. Not this year. Snow was so deep in most areas and never saw a track. Friday, my friend called and said he watched a bear several hours. He met us up there and showed us the spot. For 5 hours, we never saw it. So we made our way out. Got a glimpse of him and he got a shot off and hit him. So we followed him until the rains came. Went back Sunday morning and found him alive just up the hill. Made another shot and he was in the bottom. It was awesome. Fun times. He's addicted and wants to go again. My 2 boys love hunting. And they did the skull too. Getting good at it.
