Temps in the Mtns

Will be coming out to CO for archery elk Sept. 3rd through Sept. 12. I am guessing the elk will still be pretty high.

What kind of temps should we be prepared for at approx. 10,000 ft. I know it can vary wildly but seems like it is a little warmer this year than normal???

I know Rocketman's posts said it was freezing some at night, but what about daytime highs.

I have never been out this early before, we have always hunted in Oct. in years past.

My experience is that highs during the day can range from the 60s and 70s and into the 80s at the lower elevations.

Of course, it can all change when the clouds roll in.

I would add though that it could be rather cold too, we had snow 2 years ago at 9800' around the 15th of sept.

We got 4 in of snow 2 weeks ago on vail pass, the deer are still not to be seen above tree line.The temps have been 75 hi and 45 lows at 10500, but expect things to cool off in Sept. Lots of Elk, but things dont look good for the early season deer tag!

It was 40 this morning in Leadville (10,152 ft). I've had ice on my truck window once in the last couple weeks. Forecast shows temps through Tuesday being a low of 37 and high of 71. Be ready for anything above 9,000 in september.
