Sounds as if you got a bad batch. Prolly sat on a container ship too long.Speaking of shrimp, I bought a bag of frozen shrimp at Safeway two weeks ago. I kept it in the freezer for a few days, then placed the shrimp in a bowl of cold water for a few minutes to thaw them out, and they stunk so bad! Our whole kitchen smelled like ammonia. I refroze them and took them back for a refund.

Well do it! Not sure what recipe you're using, but when you make the batter, rather than water or reg. milk, use coconut milk for more of the coconut flavor.I blame you for showing us the shrimp coconut meal that I wanted to try.
