Uintas West Mount Goat Success

I want to thank all the MMers that helped me with my scouting for my Uintas West mountain goat hunt. You all are a wealth of wisdom. I couldn’t have done it without your guidance.

All together I logged about 80 miles on foot and only saw about 40 goats. The goat I shot is most likely the same billy that I saw back in mid-July about 1/2 mile from where I shot him.

It was a brutal year to have that tag, but it all came together for me on opening day. I saw a lot of kids this summer. However, I didn’t see any this weekend. I hope they didn’t all die this summer. Unfortunately, that herd is going to struggle for a while.

You can read about my scouting and hunt in the 2024 Hunt Adventures thread ('Adventure Is Out There').

Nice goat and great picture… Good job on getting it done, that unit and the one to west are a fraction of what they used to be and should still be….

Saw your post in the Adventure forum. Amazing hunt, very nice mtn. goat, great photos, and you got to share it with family.
Could not ask for more.

Having read your Hunt Adventure write up, I think y'all changed that trail running wife's life trajectory. She saw what real men do in the mountains. 🤣🤣 Opened her eyes.! Good on ya!
