Unit 21A Late Season Archery Hunt

Hey everyone,

I was one of the lucky 15 people to draw the unit 21A December archery hunt. Being as I have never hunted this unit I know I'm in for a rough go. I will not be able to scout as far as I know. I have done a lot of time on the OnX looking for spots to hunt. I had looked at the extreme southern end of the unit towards Pine Flat and Hells Canyon due to the lack of roads and lower country. However, since talking to some people, it sounds like the northern half of the unit may be a better choice to look. I looked into the southern end to possible hunt the edge of the silver fire burn. Just looking to see if anyone would recommend one end of the unit to the other?

That is going to be a really tough hunt. A lot of 21A is very rugged country and there are not high densities of elk. There are some old mature bulls in the unit, but you will have to work to find one and the pack out will likely be brutal if you are lucky enough to kill one. Honestly, you can find elk anywhere in 21A, just don't expect to see many elk. I'll send you a PM.
