i was up archery hunting today and happened upon a black wolf on the way back to camp had no fear of the atv or the arrow that hit just under it. i accidentally bumped my release in the rush to get it

hopefully its not a new pack forming we only saw two sets of tracks on multiple trails we were on

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately, it's a new pack moving in there. Up until the last 3 years I had found no evidence of wolves up that drainage.

3 years ago we heard wolves up there and saw tracks. 2 years ago I caught a glimpse of one and last fall a buddy had one come into his cow calls and he shot it with his pistol. We also heard multiple packs howling near the unit border there to the north.

A good buddy of mine baited for bears in there this spring and had dozens of pictures of wolves on his trail camera. Even a really cool pure white one.

We have since moved onto other areas, as the elk refused to bugle, PM me for more details.
