Unit 52 Elk

I drew a 52 bull tag. Season is from Aug 1-29. 3 weeks away!!! I'm excited but freaking out. Never hunted elk that early. Thinking it?ll be hot! A chance at a bull in velvet really has me dreaming. Anyone ever had that hunt?

I'd be more concerned about meat spoilage. Do you have a plan for that?

Better learn how to buddy up with farmers and learn how to hunt in a cornfield.
My guess would be that 90+% of the Elk will be on private land.
Figure on the low temps being in the high 50's low 60's
Highs in the mid 90's to low 100's.
The closest cooler/meat locker is Scarrow's in Jerome.
