Unit 53 Colorado Mule Deer

Good afternoon Guys - I plan on applying for unit 53 second season this year and was hoping someone had some experience with the unit in recent years. Anyone had a good experience?

I’ve never hunted it but I’ve been in the Gunnison basin and had a look around and it looks like great deer country. I know it used to be a monster buck area that ranked right up there with the best of them.
I think it’s kind of been under the radar lately but I wouldn’t be surprised it is making a come back with the reduced number of tags.
There’s a young man on this site that knows a lot about unit 54. And other units. He has helped me and many others with advice and suggestions. He’s a Guide in that unit.

There is a lot of information out there on unit 53, just got to look for it. Like most units in the state the quality is down and number of hunters are up. Lots of elk hunters in that unit as well. Deer are well spread throughout the unit depending on weather.
