Unit 67 Second Season guide recommendation

I got lucky and drew a 67 Second season deer tag. I live in Idaho and at 60 there's a good chance I will say farewell to CO after this hunt, and so I'm thinking about breaking the piggy bank and going guided. I've talked to one outfit that operates in the unit, but would love to hear any recommendations, especially for an outfit that has guides that like to chase deer. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I'd be happy to share information about the Palisades country of eastern Idaho, the Frank, or western WY.

John- This is a long shot I understand. I’d try the Visitors Bureau or C of C in Gunnison & ask about names & phone numbers of meat processors & taxidermists there who could help you find & talk to some outfitters/guides for 67 deer. Also some of the motels /hotels there might know someone to ask. Start trying & calling ASAP— that’s a good tag ?. Best of luck ! Jerry Gold in Fort Collins, Co

I would check with the Cadwell Outfitters and Ranch in Powderhorn - they have been guiding the area for many years. At would at least be worth a call - they also have a cabin for rent in the area and they have a webpage.

Look at: Colorado Outfitters Association..as always make double sure to check out references and do your due diligence....we have very good outfitters BUT we also have some crooks. Don't be fooled by fancy, well done web pages !

call the USFS Gunnison office to make sure who you are talking to is permitted to guide in the area, then check with CPW officer in the area and get his opinion. anybody can give out their brother in law in Texas' phone number as a reference.
And I believe AEI is in 55 not 67

He told me he is 55 and 67. We were talking deer, maybe elk is different.

Thanks to all who weighed in on my question, including those who sent PMs. I've gotten a better understanding of the unit and have decided to hunt it unguided. I'll report back in November, hopefully with a pic.
