From the initial research I have done, it appears that public access if very limited in this unit. For those that have hunted or are familiar with the area is it possible to have a successful DIY hunt? I found a few of the ranches that allow access but I have heard that they are tough to reserve and limited to 2-3 consecutive days. Anyone have any experience with the outfitter (Faber), Montana Outfitting Company? Any and all info is appreciated.

The reason there is no access is because of Faber. Other than that, the majority of the elk during the rut are on the ranch that allow the 2-3 days of access. Public access is very limited unless you hunt he breaks and access there has been shut off due to legal issues on a road that has been used since the 1800's. Unless you're from the area and know somebody, you'll be in for a tough hunt.
