Updated Elk & Deer Proposals

Looks like G&F made a couple updates to their Elk and Deer proposals. Most notable change is scrapping the idea of making unit 34 a Secondary Management zone for Elk and keeping it Primary. Instead they want to add more cow hunts in January and February for unit 34 and 36. They added tables with the proposed license number changes for Elk and Deer. Some reductions in deer licenses in the SE units which I think most people have been calling for, however not really a big reduction.

Still proposing to remove scopes for muzzleloader hunts.

Reducing cows isn’t like reducing the number of whitetails doe’s is it? We give out more doe tags so the huge nocturnal bucks have to come out to find does to mate.

Reducing cows isn’t like reducing the number of whitetails doe’s is it? We give out more doe tags so the huge nocturnal bucks have to come out to find does to mate.

Maybe for a year, then the reduction in cows results in fewer elk altogether. so back to nocturnal behaviour for the fewer bulls pursuing fewer cows and fewer opportunities for hunters
