I will be hunting on a medium sized chunk of private land between Woodruff and Randolf what can I expect?

How big is medium ? It depends just because its private doesn't mean it holds big bucks. Alot people will hold and hunt private just because it's private. It's sometimes best to just hunt where the deer are ,and not so much limit youself to private ground.

There are two sections of 11,000 acres or so each.

Are down low in the sagebrush or up further to the west in the quakes?

From the pictures I have seen it is in the quakes with some sage brush.

With that much land you should be able to find something. What are you looking for ?

I have a lot of time and it is only costing me the price of the tag so I am shooting for something around 180". I would like to know if my expectations are to high. The ranch receives zero pressure.

Find water. The deer are starting to come back a little. They have had some hard winters and 180 may be pushing it a little but you never know what could turn up with all the feed this year. We used to hunt that area growing up. Concentrate on the little quake patch in the middle of the sage brush you might be supprised what's in some of them. What tag do you have?

If I could shoot a 180 inch deer every year that I hunted and archery to boot. On a general unit ? That maybe a tough order to fill. But have a good time doing it

I have two weeks, depending on what I am seeing the first 5 days, my decision may be made for me(shoot what I can).

I probably wouldn't pass up a good looking 165-170 class on a general tag even if it's private.... but that's just me.

I know nothing about the ranch and your plan sounds good. See what's there (for a couple days) and then try for the better ones.

is it private or a private ranch? is it a firend of a friend hookin you up on his grand pappy's piece or is it a legit hunting place managed for big bucks?

If it is eithe one, i'd hold out for a mature 4 point.
