Valle Vidal Elk Hunt Muzzle Loader First Ever Elk hunt

Hello, I am a beginner hunter, tried my luck for the Valle Vidal hunt Unit 55A Muzzleloader- (resident) hunt and was picked.

This will be my first elk hunt ever and don’t have anyone I can ask for advice.

Has anyone hunted the Valle Vidal for elk before? Just wondering what to expect.

I can only take off work on the days of my hunt, so I won’t be scouting. Any recommendations on places I should start?

I will be hunting October 8-12, what types of calls should I invest in?

Go to the search function of the website and type in valle vidal. Then send messages to people who have hunted it recently. Most people will respond that way. Also search in the NM forum or post something in there. You drew one of the best tags in the world, good luck!

I've hunted and been on the VV many many times! Myself, my wife and two of.my daughters have all hunted there. Originally from Questa so kinda my backyard! PM me ill give any info you want plus a little extra on top of that!
