Velbon modified tripod

FYI: Jim White who makes a machined tripod head that sells through the outdoorsman also sells velbon modified tripods and heads that are fantastic. The tripod is lightened up and total package of the 52" or so tripod/head combined is about 3 pounds. The cost is about 160.00 total for the head/tripod. Of course he makes the machined aluminum head that he also sells for around 230.00. I just bought the velbon from him and will probably upgrade the head later next year. My uncle has the exact same set up but he has the Jim White fluid head on it and you are exactly right, That guy is a master machinist! The whole set up seems ultra stable and very light compared to some of the bogen set ups some of us pack around...
