Five Dead, Three Injured After Hunter Denied Access to Land

HAYWARD, Wis. (AP) - A dispute among hunters over a tree stand in northwestern Wisconsin erupted into a shooting that left five people dead and three injured Sunday, a television station reported.
The alleged gunman, a man from the Twin Cities area, was arrested Sunday afternoon, Sawyer County Chief Deputy Tim Zeigle told KSTP-TV of St. Paul, Minn.
The shootings happened near Birchwood about noon. The station quoted authorities as saying the shooting began after a hunting party saw a hunter they didn't know occupying their tree stand.
That led to a confrontation. One victim used a walkie-talkie to call for help, but when other hunting partners came to the scene they also were shot, the station reported.
One of those wounded was in critical condition in a Rice Lake hospital, and one was in fair condition, KSTP reported. The condition of the third victim, who was taken to a Marshfield hospital, was not immediately available.

It is A##HOLES like this that give hunters and hunting a bad name!!!! With the general public and with landowners. Killing people the guy was trespassing and didn't want to leave. This kind of sh!t is why landowners deny hunters permission.

I heard on the news this morning that probably the only reason that the two guys who escorted this idiot out of the woods didn't get shot is that his gun was empty.

Now it will take every one of us to help repair the damage that one nutcase did in a matter of minutes.

Any ideas on how we can repair the damage and maintain our rights to hunt and fish? As well as help gain access to private ground?

Unfortunately yes. But if they ban assult weapons, they will then work on taking every gun you own away and your bows and your knives. Where will the maddness end on weapons bans. It is PEOPLE that kill people and not guns. It takes some idiot to pull the trigger.

Guys like this should be publically executed. Yes our children should see. And we as responsible parents/adults can say yes this is what happens to people who kill people.
