What Bullet Is This?

Anyone know what bullet these are?

I discovered them while splitting some wood for kindling on an elk hunt. They have been in the tree for quite some time since there was no sign of an entrance on the exterior of the wood.

I have seen calvary era bullets that were split with a knife to expand. I have a couple around here somewhere. Yes, they were fired at people.

I figured the split was to help expansion. Looks like that idea failed. Lol
