I was a year out of High School working 3 jobs to pay down the loan of 18.3% interest I had taken out to buy some hunting land. Dreaming of hunting out west, chasing 2 and 4 legged whitetails and drinking beer on the tailgate of my truck with a couple buddies. ? Heck! Except for the interest rate and chasing only one (Dear) not much has changed!?

Gulf of Mexico providing Wireline services for Exxon mostly in Eugene Island Blk's 314-A,B,& C plus EI-295 and 251. Was a specialist for Otis Engineering assigned to those fields. Most of the folks I worked for have since passed. Can't believe it has been that long ago. Met some good folks and co-workers. lost touch with most at this point. Made a decent living that has enabled me to fund my retirement.

When I was 18 I asked my HS teacher who I only knew 2 years to co sign a loan so I could buy a 4x4 truck and he did it was a repo I think I paid $2,100 for the truck the only place that would give a loan on a repo truck was friendly Bob Adams from GFC Loans in Collinsville IL. My payments were $100 a month for 36 months! so that was $1,500 in interest alone that’s for all the math challenged people on MM! I deal was that if I was late for any reason what so ever I was to bring the truck to his house and he would make the payment as to keep his A1 credit rating, so I was late one time the payment was on a Thursday and I didn’t get paid until that Friday so when I pulled up with my girlfriend in her car behind Mr Noeth asked what was wrong the explained the situation and he said “when will you have the money“ I told him tomorrow. I felt terrible I was late on my payment! Needless to say I didn’t know about grace periods! He told me that later in life and he just laughed! He is just 10 years older then me and his was newly married when he did this I finally asked Mrs Noeth what she thought about Mr Noeth coming home saying “ hi honey I’m going to co-sign a loan for a truck that in the beginning of my sophomore year he seen my name on the roster and thought to himself “I’m kicking him out of my class“ because I was so obnoxious and bothering the other students and him in shop class My freshman year! Mrs Noeth asked him why he was doing this he said “the kid needs a truck to haul his tools and go to work and his Dad won’t help him out!” Oh by the way I was making $3.00 an hour. To this day I still call him mr Noeth he said Joe called me George I tried twice in the duck that morning and went back to Mr Noeth LOL! He is still a great friend. He was the first person to see I was not bad kid I just live in a very abusive household and that’s why I was acting the way I did! LOL!
How about you all posting some stories of people in your lives that made a great impression on you!?

Hunted chukars in late 70's at mouth of Blacksmith Fork Canyon, dropped one and it was flopping around on the ground when a peregrine falcon swooped past my head and picked up the chukar and flew away with it!
Now that’s just RUDE of that falcon to do that!

I remember that Ruddy Duck stamp! I think it's in a drawer somewhere. I shot a Ruddy Duck my first year duck hunting.
