WTF ? is this just a localized freak event or is it really that dry in CO ?

I guess the other question is is this going to be a great winter for the game or is it a pending disaster next year ? nobody knows of course but what's the speculation.

The SW part of the state is getting dumped on and you wouldn’t think it could be that much different up there.

Hopefully it isn’t so cold that it hinders the firefighters.

My sons know a couple of people who got evacuated.

It's the front range plains, doubt we've had 2 inches of moisture since June. High winds took out some power poles, sparked some grass fires. Was in Walden last wknd, they were gettin pounded, aspen is suppose to have 3 more feet by end of Saturday. Were suppose to get 5-10 inches by end of Saturday. Too late for those folks unfortunately.

It's been dangerously dry on the Front Range of Colorado since July. As mentioned by DW, high winds took out power lines and started a grass fire. There were 80 to 100 mph winds that moved the blaze from open, dry grassland and open space to several adjoining subdivisions in Superior and Louisville. You would never expect wildfires to burn so far into the interior of these subdivisions. Both of these communities were evacuated yesterday. Over 600 homes and quite a few business's burned. There are at least twice the homes that burned in this wildfire as the Waldo fire near Colorado Springs. Fortunately the winds died down today and temperatures have cooled. Thank goodness the area is supposed to get snow and cold the next couple days.

Thoughts and prayers for those that have been impacted by this catastrophic wildfire.
