Looks like we will be voting on introducing wolves into our state. Would think that the Colorado Division of Wildlife would be concerned that wolves would reduce our game herds. Less game means less hunting licenses and revenue for the division to operate. Colorado has the largest elk herd but still there is only a 20% kill percentage. Believe the wolves did a pretty good job on the Yellowstone herd. Oh well

If they depend on elk for survival, we should be ok down here.

Time for some practical threads about which bullets and loads work best for them, will they come to a predator call, etc.:cautious:

The CPW is very concerned and as an organization the Board has on multiple occasions written in opposition to forced wolf reintroduction. Their specific policy is that they will manage and allow wolves to naturally repopulate, but are opposed to any reintroduction.

Colorado Law prohibits the CPW from commenting for or against any ballot measure. They are muzzled and not allowed legally to do anything except provide data and answer questions.

I have yet to meet anyone that works for CPW who thinks the forced introduction is a good idea.

Why are we voting on this anyway? Shouldn't the CPW vote - private session? Shame to open 'er up, and let all the new idiots, transplants etc etc etc etc etc get in on this? unreal.

It is totally out of CPWs ability to do anything about this. In Colorado Citizens can petition to put anything they want on the ballot all they have to do is collect X number of signatures and it will qualify. It is a screwed up system and 20 years ago our legislature our nonprofit hunting organizations and we as hunter failed to protect hunting and wildlife management by not passing a right to hunt bill and protecting the CPW from such ballot box biology!

Thanks for the information posted on CPW not being able to give their position on the wolf issue. Colorado used to be conservative but with the influx of liberals it has changed. If the liberals take over the CPW as they have the school system, who knows what to expect in the future..
