Wolves in Califirnia

It's California, so I imagine there is much celebration going on behind the scenes.

Nice to hear from you larrbo.....go Astros!

Deer hunting, elk tags will never be the same in Northern Calif.Give it 8 to 10 yrs.Maybe not that long..Glad I'm leaving. BH1

The pack in Lassen County has killed several cows and just sits there looking at the ranchers when they approach. They're not afraid of humans and will begin decimating game and livestock in no time. CA should be sued for damages and loss by the ranchers, IMO. I can't wait until they find their way into the foothills of the Gay Area and start decimating livestock and pets there.

I would have blown there brains out right there on the spot, what are they going to do about it ?

I agree but, apparently, at least one of the wolves is collared as DFW apparently was able to lead the ranchers to a couple of their kills that they couldn't find by way of the wolf's collar signal. Then, they had the nerve to say they couldn't confirm the animal was a wolf kill. Give me a break. They ought to work for the DNC. The ranchers probably don't want to deal with the onslaught of charges and public threats if they rightfully killed them. Personally, I would have claimed self-defense though as it sounds like the wolves aren't afraid of them and just sit there over their kill and snarl at them. Find the ones without collars, shoot the chit out of them and let the collared ones run off for DFW to waste even more tax dollars on. Either that, or shoot the collared one and throw the collar in the back of cross-country semi and let them track the wolf's cross-country journey.

Our state is controlled by those who think wolves and mountain lions are the best thing since hot buttered popcorn. We shouldn't expect anything else other than the wolf population to increase. Deer, elk and cattle are not their priority and never will. You think the hunting in California is bad now.....just wait.

+1...... The bears are eating the lion kills and now the lions are killing more often.

If I'm not mistaken the Grizzly Bear once roamed Sacramento Valley, funny how the greenies cherry pick and choose their BS Agenda !! Heard there are pine trees and a beach 75 feet below Tahoe's Rim. They don't tell tell you that either !! If your gonna have a bear on your flag then do it right get some 1500 lb salmon eaters in the State Capital and a few nasty mountain Grizz in the Sierra / Cascades.

Wolf pack kills calf in Plumas County

Taylorsville >> A pack of wolves from the Lassen pack attacked a herd of cattle on a ranch near Taylorsville in Plumas County, fatally injuring a calf that was later put down after an investigation by authorities.

According to a report from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, on the evening of April 1, a cattle owner?s neighbors heard a commotion, which included the sounds of a calf bawling loudly. Using spotlights, the neighbors said they observed three wolves in the pasture and found the cattle tightly grouped. The responders honked a vehicle horn and shined a light on the wolves until they ran.

On April 2, one of the responders located an injured calf in the pasture and contacted DFW staff. The calf was approximately one month old and weighed approximately 200 pounds, the report said. The calf was captured and held in a stock trailer, and DFW staff and a USDA Wildlife Services specialist investigated its injuries and the site on April 3. Due to the extent of its injuries, the calf was euthanized. DFW and Wildlife Services staff returned on April 4 to further assess its wounds and tissues. The report said it was a confirmed wolf kill.

The report said the calf?s injuries were consistent with that of a wolf attack and GPS collar data showed wolves were present in the pasture that evening.

Taylorsville is between Quincy and Lake Almanor.

Last October, Wally Roney of the Roney Land and Cattle Co. north of Chico believes he lost at five cows to the wolves. The DFW investigated and confirmed one attack. It came from the Lassen pack, the DFW said.

So if the rancher see's wolves attacking his livestock, he's not allowed to shoot them in Ca. ? In Idaho you can..

And now you know why people are flocking to ID from CA---people with common sense anyway.

They are here in Scott Valley just southwest of Yreka. Scott Valley has more cattle than people, a thriving elk heard, and a struggling deer heard. We are Screwed x(
