Is it Me or the Rifle?

I’ll give you $1000 if you can hit 10 out of 10 shots within 1 MOA with random targets 300-600 yards out. It has to be with a rifle you carry while hunting and shot under field conditions. You miss one shot and I get $1000. I would prefer a windy day ;) Either way and it would be worth my time...

Is it Me or the Rifle?

I would agree with HikeHunt61. I think that is all the load/rifle combo may be capable of. With different ammunition it could shoot better or possibly worse. If the scope had a problem, It wouldn't be holding zero. If you are having to zero the scope on a regular basis, then there is a problem...

    Happy Creedmoor day 6/5

I have a 6.5 Creedmoor that I’ve killed a couple deer with. It is a good cartridge if you don’t expect it to preform beyond its limits. I’m packing one of my 300 win mags or 338 Lapua if I’m hunting elk or shooting longer ranges.

    Trout Fishing

Yes Each river, stream or lake will have better trout fishing at different times of the year.

    Bipod for antelope hunting

I agree with yotebuster17. You want something you can shoot from a sitting position. Sage and grass are often too tall to shoot prone. I've been using Harris for years. There are other good options out there as well. I've been able to get prone to shoot several pronghorn but sometimes, sitting...

    Rich man’s game

Nonresident hunting has always been a rich man’s sport. Unfortunately nonresident hunt it is become more of a rich man’s game. Finding the right balance to spend money and time on hunting vs family is a personal choice. I know my wife would be ok if I quit hunting and spent all my spare time on...

    NR Sheep Possibilities

Wizard, I'm in the same situation as you in Nevada. I believe I have 7 points. I wish I would have started building points in multiple states when I was 14 years old but I didn't have an extra $200 a year to donate to NV until I was over 30 years old. I've done the math and realize I will...

How many firearms do you own? (Poll)

No one wants to claim 100+ yet? I'm sure there are a few out there, they just don't want to admit it. Most of us own enough guns to cause anxiety for anyone that is anti 2nd amendment. I'll admit I have over 50. It wouldn't be hard to collect 100+ firearms if you have a little extra $$ and a...

    2023 Mule Deer Harvest data

At least someone saw some nice bucks. I didn't see a single older buck in about 7 days of hunting in October in 2023. I did see a few decent bucks before October and some after the season closed but I would estimate the deer population in 2023 in many areas was only 25% of what it was in 2022...

    2023 Mule Deer Harvest data

2023 harvest data is available on the F&G website. https://idfg.idaho.gov/ifwis/huntplanner/stats/?season=general&game=deer&yr=2023&method=any%20weapon We all knew it wasn't good but it is sad to see the actual numbers. 2022 wasn't a great year for deer in most areas but compared to 2023 it...

    Southeast Idaho winter kill

2023 Harvest data is available on the F&G website. Very sad to see the actual numbers. 2022 wasn't a great year for deer in most areas but compared to 2023 it was night and day. Deer killed was 100% to 200% less in most SE Idaho units in 2023 vs 2022. I haven't gone through and analyzed all the...

    Reloading?

I’ve been loading for my rifles and handguns for more than 20 years and haven’t thought it was worth my time loading for my shotguns. If I got back into doing a lot of waterfowl hunting and want to create custom TSS loads I would look at loading for my shotgun. If I shot 1000+ rounds per month...

    Reloading?

Hornady or RCBS kit would be a good place to start but I would highly recommend finding friends that loads ammunition. Spend some time with them at their bench and see what you really need and don't need.
