    2024 Seed Number Drawing

I’d almost rather not know if I was “close”! I was in the final 10 one year for the statewide bighorn tag. They announced my name online and everything. Not sure that I even wanted to know that.

    Gunwerks Elevatate 2.0 bipod

Dang. They’re 4-5” away from that being usable to shoot sitting down. Make each section 1.5” longer and you’d have a winner in my book.

    2024 Seed Number Drawing

I don’t understand why they don’t simplify their system like Colorado and just give everyone a number, invert the number, then divide that number by the number of genders you think exist.

    Unit 29 Antelope Scouting

I think 29 is one of the best units in the country for big antelope. No real trick or honey hole for antelope other then knowing what a big one looks like and more importantly what a big one doesn’t look like.

    Bipod for antelope hunting

Harris S25 is what I run on all my guns. Have had a few of the high end ones and they all have compromises. Might be steadier prone but definitely lacking when it comes to shooting off your but. If you look at the specs closely the Harris is as light or real close to any of the $300-500 ones...

WY unit 98 Elk youth tag

I’ve never stepped foot in it, but I’d be there sept 19 if that’s a rifle tag. I don’t care about migration or pressure or whatever when you can be anywhere in elk country with a rifle in your hand with those dates. Congrats to your kid. That should be a riot

    Application Question

I think that 80% of the landowners around my farm don’t know the first thing about the deer regulations. I also tend to like unit 670. One of my favorite places, doesn’t rain enough up there for me to wanna own any farm ground there though.

Is it a requirement of state law to understand deer regulations in order to purchase land in a state?

    Wild big game taste ratings

This is my list, my wife is an exceptional chef and she enjoys taking on tricky and new game. We haven’t bought meat (besides bacon) in 10-12 years so I feel like my taste has changed slightly from that. 1: antelope 2: rocky bighorn 3: desert bighorn 4: blacktail deer 5: coues deer 6: moose...

    Kansas it is!

Got a unit 17 whitetail tag but can’t see anything on there about the mule deer stamp. Assuming that means I didn’t get it 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Wyoming Non-Resident Random Moose

The two sheep and two mountain goats I’ve killed were some of the best meat I’ve ever eaten.

    Caliber for elk/mule deer

I guess if I knew I was not going to shoot further then 600 and in wind less then or equal to 10mph I think a 143 at 2950 would be fine. I live in ND and a 10mph wind is a starting point for the morning. I’m building a 25 SST right now so maybe I’ll come back around to this lighter caliber...

    ISO Elk guide/outfitter

I think they’re about 20-25 years out on those picks. If I were sitting on low teens right now I’d burn them as fast as I could before the other 5000-10000 guys with similar realize they’re chasing a pipe dream and decide to burn theirs. That’s when things go through the roof.

    Any Nevada Sheep tags 2024?

    Tonya Harding that dude.

Pre charge for the whole tag fee? I got turned down last year and did not get a charge.
  23. yotebuster17

    Caliber for elk/mule deer

Did I use an accubond as any of my scenarios? No. Because they’re garbage and the BC’s suck. So again, if you use the heaviest for caliber Berger or Hornady in that respective caliber and launch them all at the same speed, wind drift goes down as you go up in weight. There’s not way around...
  24. yotebuster17

    Caliber for elk/mule deer

A lot of good points on here, but what everyone is forgetting is wind. There’s no replacement for HEAVY high BC bullets when working with wind. Elevation can be corrected for 100% of the time with a little time, but wind can only be estimated, even with a wind meter. A .284 195gr moving at...

Draw Odds Effect From Special Draw Price Increase

I drew a tag that has more or less taken max points for the last 18 years with one less then max. Not certain why it did that but I’ll take it. I honestly figured on those top end tags it would do like you figured and go up instead of down but I’ve been putting in for it for years in special...
  26. yotebuster17

    Application Question

You need to draw the general tag as a NR. You also apply for the special permit at the same time. If you get lucky and draw the general tag you are entered into the lottery for the special permit (like 652-50) and if you don’t draw that, you still have a general tag. Most of MT is general for...

    Kansas it is!

I got one too, anyone know if the mule deer stamp would be charged at the same time or if it’s later? I’ve got no use for a KS whitetail tag 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Wyoming Non-Resident Random Moose

I totally get long odds, I’ve had a NV dream tag, a NV PIW deer tag, and one year had 2 sheep tags a Utah Mtn goat tag an AZ elk tag and a MT breaks rifle tag all in one. I get my name in a lot of hats, but I still wasn’t dumb enough to spend $150 nonrefundable on a moose tag that could be had...

    Application Question

670 is a general area. Just need a general deer tag and you and everyone else in the entire world can have at it.
  30. yotebuster17

    Wyoming Non-Resident Random Moose

One of those is 3x better odds for a sheep and the other is 3x worse odds for a small moose.
  31. yotebuster17

    Application Question

You’ve got a few things going on here: 1: this is in the Nevada thread 2: you didn’t state what animal you’re talking about 3: assuming your reference to 652-50 I’m gonna assume your talking about deer, which in that case there’s no draw odds out there for 670 because it’s a general area so...
  32. yotebuster17

    Wyoming Non-Resident Random Moose

I think worse then that is the 1000+ guys who did the same for a sheep tag that had a 0/1000 chance of drawing. The only winner there was the credit card company who landed a cool $100k in fees over that gong show.

If you had a Silver State Deer Tag

In that case I’d have a buck picked out and shoot him Aug 1. That’s the best and easiest time to find him. Incredible tag.

Early for sure. Do you have a PIW or a Silver State tag?

    Paunsagunt Services

I’m all for starlink to keep fires out at work and keep in touch with loved ones but that last sentence is the saddest thing I think I’ve ever read about hunting. The level of narcissism required for that sets a whole new bar.

Swavorski 20-60x65 Angled and objective difference

Get the ATX. It’s not even a comparison to the older ATS and ATM scopes. The X series is the first spotter I’ve ever owned where I consistently find myself zoomed in to max and still have a great picture. My STS used to got to hell above about 40x so it never went above that.

Draw Odds Effect From Special Draw Price Increase

Sub 10% tags are going to be the new norm and we’ll all have to form our draw strategies around them in the future. I put in for just over 100 individual applications each year, anywhere from 100% chance to 1:5000 odds, but getting your name in as many jars as you can in the future is going to...

    23 and you?

“Those websites?” It’s the Drovers Journal. It’s a cattleman’s magazine for decades. Not exactly a propaganda machine like where Feddoc gets all of his garbage.
