Hey guys..it’s application season! Hope everyone is having good luck. I know Region H in WY was hit hard in 2023 and supposedly region G was hit even harder with winter kill. My son and I have the points to draw...does anyone have an opinion or advice for us to try and apply this year 2024...

That’s great info..sometimes I think maybe CO gets a lot of publicity and was overrated but maybe it really is one of the best states for muleys even though the trophy quality is down throughout the state.. thank you!

Wyoming 2021 51” wide..killed him in a blizzard..missed the bull 3x at 400 and 500 yards with bad cross wind. The snow got so bad we lost visibility we climbed another mountain at 11,000 feet and was way above treeline. As we came to the top of the mountain of the way the elk went after missing...

Thanks to everyone that’s helped us on this forum with our western hunting journey!

My son was sick to his stomach..so deflating but that hunter had the right since he actually killed him. His shot hit him really far back..so it was a relief that he was harvested quickly and didn’t suffer.

Yes we did and we confirmed that. There’s was 4 guys below us which was the direction he ran and we went down there and investigated after we heard the shot. It was the same deer.

So when he gets that buck the next day it was the ultimate redemption moment for us..I was giddy like a kid on Christmas

He hit the first one, the cross wind at 400+ yards made the shot a little back..another hunter down below us ended up finishing him and killing him.

Where I’m from road hunting is called trolling..I could just troll instead of bottom fish..”trolling” works well with a sunroof..gives you 360 degrees.

It’s big country..it’s a large area, however it’s an otc elk unit. I’m curious to see how that plays into our plans. We’ve got lots of areas marked on OnX from escouting but nothing compares to boots on the ground. We can hunt 8 of the 9 day season but I have the flexibility to come out 2-3 days...

This is unit in southern CO we can probably draw every 3-4 years as it sits right now. Not a top end unit but supposedly a decent one.

My family went with 3.6 points in regular draw for general tags..decided we couldn’t pay $4k plus for gen tags as a family…we will see!

Thanks for the info sir! Seems like 62 might be harder to glass than 70 by the looks of the aerial map, I have no idea 100%. I would think terrain that’s harder to glass would hold bigger deer. Man it’s a toss up..I have a little time left to decide. Last year we hunted Eastern MT near Jordan...
