Looking to make my first trip to SD for a DIY Archery mule hunt. Besides the obvious of doing a lot of glassing, and be willing to move around. should i try to find a lodging ranch that has trespassing fees, or stick to public and either camp or stay in an airbnb? (yes i know how that sounds but not super experienced in the tent camping world) I unfortunately may be making this trip solo pending my fathers physical ability to tag along. Thank you greatly in advance!

Yeah, I will be going over there with my son this fall sometime and give it a go. We have hunted there a few times but mainly with rifle and this time with a bow.

I bow hunted private land near Herrick in 2020, or was it 2021? Anyway, I was surprised at how many deer I saw each day. I'm not talking about watching a bunch in an alfalfa field from 500 yards away, I'm talking about be still because they are close. IT was probably 30+ per day.

I also hunted from the ground, which I had never done. And rattling worked.

I posted a semi-live on here. I'll see if I can find the link.

Oh wait, I see you're talking mule deer. I was hunting white tails.

Here's the link.
