a friend called me yesterday and said he had a rack that a friend shot in idaho in 1950....rack was pretty 'weathered', and he wanted to know if i could do anything with it....thought i'd give it a shot...told him i was doing it at his 'own risk', and that if it came out acceptable, he would owe me a bottle of 'the brown stuff'....of course, i used the famous 'browtine method'...(special thanks to 'browtine') what do you think...is it worth a 'bottle'?

i know, i know,... you guys are thinking....i shouldn't have hired a professional model for these pics, but...you guys deserve nothing but the best...

LAST EDITED ON Jun-30-05 AT 07:38PM (MST)[p]I think it came out great! He should be very happy!

Tell the professional model to rub a little of that in his beard! LOL

Sweet job!!!! That turned out excellent. Sweet ol' buck too. (um, was talking about the rack not the model :) )

Very well done!! Some day I'll get brave and try it on a rack I have.

That looks awsome looks like you do great work. Thanks for sharing the pics.

That turned out great! The before and after pics sure show the work you put into it. Thats probably the biggest rack I have seen the method on.. Kudos to you for making it work. Thanks for the pics Lf..and how about sharing that bottle :)

The buck looks great. I think it turned out real good. I have just one question. What is the Browtine method? I have a set of hornes that I would love to get looking that good. Is this method that you are talking about "Top Secret" or could you tell me about it.

Jeff

Thanks so much Browtine. I have a couple of different sets that I will try this on. Hope they turn out half as good as this one did. Thanks for the link.

Jeff

Sure thing.. If you can..take some before and after pics for us and keep us updated on the progress.

Awesome job LF. How did you get the coloring done around base??? Likes kinda "knobby" and tough to get color in there in an even coat. Just curious, I got a rack with similar characteristics..

Kingfish...you know Santa is skinny during the summer. LF just needs the Mrs Clause to fatten him up this fall on some good venison. Nice work there LF, always enjoy your posts.

Nice looking "refinishing" job on the rack, congrats to you. As for the "poser" looking at his cheeks and nose, he might have got into your "Bottle" before you did.
Keep up the good work.
